Re: when i kik to start the bike inside the engine...
The most likely problem is that the kickstart gear has worn. It shouldn't be difficult to replace as it should be on the outside to the gear cluster. You should be able to get at it by removing the casing and it should be visible. To do the job (or maintain any motorbike yourself) I would suggest that you buy a manual. They only cost about 20GBP but if you follow the instructions in them they will save you hundreds. And make the next bike easier to work on. The Hero is based on the CG125, a very reliable and useful machine.

This problem may have many reason but you can try one of the solutions, when suddenly engine stops and kick rod is going smooth without resistance try push and start by directly in 2nd gear or 1st gear and after it starts keep the engine running by giving small revs for a min....
Yes, pull out the kick start. The kick start is a bent metal lever usually located on the right side of the bike.
Set the kick start lever pointing straight up, with the flat rod part of the kick start facing outward from the dirtbike. This will align the pistons, which will help the engine turn over when you kick the lever.

hi! dude this is viraj ,,, i also have a 97 taurus,,, there are 2 reasons that your bike will not satrt at the very first kick (1) is that check your clutch settings if the settings are loose than your kick will give a slip resulting in a low pressure kick which is not enough for startin the engine,,,(2) if your bikes cold and you keep kicking it you will have to pump a lot of energy in it your engine will fire only after 15 to 20 kicks .... there is a sollution to this ...PULL THE DECOMPRESS LEVER WHICH IS BELLOW THE TANK ON THE HEAD AT LEFT SIDE ( NOT THE CHOKE LEVER) AND PUMP YOUR BIKE ATLEAST FIVE TO SIX POWERFULLY WITHOUT LEAVING THE LEAVER..... AND NOW START THE BIKE AS YOU DO,,,
You have probably sheered off the teeth that engage the kick start with the gearbox, else ( more commonly ) the spline in the kickstart lever has worn out and is slipping on the input shaft. You should still be able to bump start your bike ( in second) . All the relevant broken bits are on the right side of the engine, I would remove the kick start lever and remove the right crankcase cover for a look. You should still be able to get bits for your bike, they are getting collectable and some parts interchange across models.
How long did the bike set un-used? After years, gasoline turns into varnish after evaporation of the aromatic hydrocarbons. I've actually seen a substance like molasses in all the carbs and the gas tank. Take a bowl off of a carb and see what you find. If it has gone to varnish, you will need to disassemble every component that gasoline touches as a liquid and re-build and clean out the gunk. (yes, gas tank too and the diverter valve) This is a common problem.
