Question about 2009 Harley Davidson FLHTCU Ultra Classic Electra Glide

2010 street glide schematics

I am swapping in a 2010 street glide rear fender complete with the (no tail light)style lighting. I am installing on a 2009 electra glide ultra classic with amp tyco style plugs. I have cut and removed the molex connector from the (new)tail section and added pins for the amp tyco receptacle. all wire colors match. Can I wire color matching from 09 to 10? should I use the 09 run/brake/turn controller?

SOURCE: How do I change the front and rear brakes on a

Not too hard - Undo the two bolts on the caliper and then seperate the caliper and pull the old ones out. Insert the new ones and put the bolts back in to hold the caliper back together and then install them back on the bike with the two retaining bolts. Use a bit of lock tight (Blue) on the threads. Warning do not let anyone apply pressure on the brakes while you have them off the bike or you will have a mess and/or a problem.

Brakelight 2008 flhx

Hi Hector, always check fuses and bulbs first for broken filaments. Then check the connection at the rear fender wiring harness, inspect for corroded, broken or loose pins. Use a dab of dielectric grease and repair as necessary. Check your brake relay if you have one , check your brake light switches for continuity, some models rear turn signals were single filament bulbs only, no running light. If all else fails get out your test light and start tracking the power wire from the harness connection. 2007 streetglide brake light works from both hand and foot switches but the rear running light is out. Also, if you turn on the left turn signal, the flashers come on

Hi Anonymous, first check the tail light bulb for a bad running light filament then check your rear fender wiring harness for continuity at the connector located under the seat and finally check your left turn signal switch with a test light for shorts. 2005 harley fxdwg brake light works, tail light does not. replaced bulb, replaced tail light cover ?

The brake and running lights should run on separate wires from under the seat, through the hole in the rear fender and into a connector on the rear tail light cover. Your turn signal wires run the same path. These should all be clipped into place under the fender. I would look for a broken wire under the fender, especially at the point of the clip, or a corroded terminal in the tail light housing. The open wires are suseptable to rear wheel thrown road debris. You have easy access for a wire continuity test from the plug under the seat to the tail light cover.

All the back lights will not work. back indicators flash when ignition turn on but all back lights and horn totally dead. Brand new 2010 cvo street glide.

If it's brand new, I'd take it back to the dealer and let them fix it under warranty. It sounds like the rear fender subharness is not connected or shorted somehow. A subharness is a wiring harness loom that connects to the main harness and feeds and "outlying" area of the bike like the fenders or handlebars.

Good Luck
Steve
