Tail Light Issue

I noticed my tail light is not working, and my seat isn't cooperating. I cant get my seat off at all. Is that the only way to get to the tail light?

SOURCE: Honda magna tail light not functioning properly

Did you just replace the bulb with the LED? If so, you probably got the wrong bulb. Make sure it is a 2 circuit bulb like an 1157 dual filament.

SOURCE: 1984 Honda interceptor brake light

Check the bulb first, check fuses, thn check if theres 'live' current to the brake light wire to the bulb socket (using a tester).
If theres no 'live' current to the bulb socket thn proceed to the brake light switch and check for the 'live' current to the wires there, one of the wires there should have a 'live' current of course having the igntion switch 'on'.
If theres is 'live' current there, thn the switch is faulty it may just need cleaning, try to clean by using WD-40,if it doesn't help thn replace it.
If you still have no 'live' current on any of the wires to the brake switch thn trace the wire (color) from the rear light socket and follow to the fuse box / ignition switch.
Hope this helps!

SOURCE: my tail light is out but the brake light works

This is what is known as a dual filament bulb.
One bulb that has two lights inside the glass.
Usually one of the filaments will burn out, requiring you to replace the entire bulb.

Hope this helps.

SOURCE: My 2003 750 shadow spirit tail light/brake light is always on

Ensure the bulb is correctly fitted!!

You must have a foot hand brake switch mal-adjusted / faulty. back them both off (If possible) and it should extinguish.

Does it still work with headlamps off?? If so then one of the switches are faulty / need adjusting.

The Bulbs Have 2 filliments in them if 1 is burnt out that would give you the fast not working tail light there may be an issue with the brake light switch located above the brake pedal on the arm.

Dash lights and tail lights don't work

Lights and electrical circuits are sometimes in pairs so that you notice something is wrong (tail lights and dash). On a '90 merc grand marq., that would be fuse #4,the 15 amp blue one, in the panel next to your left foot. If you are lucky,it
just failed from age. If you are not lucky, there is a short in the system containing
the dash, tail, parking, side marker, license lamps and trailer tow relay if equiped.I had to replace the push/pull main light switch which was shorted. If you are lucky, just replacing the fuse in the panel will do it. Referance Grand Marquis Owners Manual for fuses and function.

2004 Jeep Grand Cherokee. Brake lights, turn signals, flashers all work correctly. However, no tail lights. Have replaced bulbs, but still no results. What could be the issue? No indication in owners...

if you have side marker lights then you have a short between them and the tail light sockets, its the same circuit , you need a meter to check this, remove one tail light bulb,, put the black lead to the base of the bulb holder, and the red lead to the little dab of solder inside the bulb socket, if your show 12v ,, then its the bulb , if not,, the socket isn't getting power and you need to back track the short or broken wire, ( make sure that the lights are on when doing this test ) normally the problem will be found where the wires in the harness come into the trunk area, or its just a bad ground,, so check that first

Tail light doesnt turn on with headlights but works fine as a break light and turn signal, why?

in the rear lights you may have two bulbs one is the turn signal the other one is stop light / tail light the stop light / tail light has two filaments, one for the stop light (21 watt) & one for the tail light (5 watt) it is possible that the tail light filament is blown, try replacing the bulb to see if that fixes the problem, also check all the fuses as well.......hope this helps......cheers.

Im looking for the fuse for the right tail light

You do not have a separate fuse for each side, if the left side works, replace the bulb in the right side that isn't working.

Problem with rear tail light/brake light

Resolution Below -

Okay, I had the same problem...My 04 Suzuki DR200SE tail light /brake light is not working. Brake lights works in park mode not in ON with engine running or not. Tail light not in either mode.

Volt meter shows the socket is working correctly, fuses are good. I even adjusted the pressure switch for the rear brake application. MOM shows nothing positive to help me trouble shoot and neither does the internet. Lots of people with same issue, but I'm not seeing any resolution.

I'm posting the resolution as lots have had this issue, but no one has posted how they fixed it. It's the ground wire inside the tail section. Which is why the volt meter (which is grounded) shows the socket is good. You'll have the pull the tail section and note the ground wire has either broken off, or the wire has sucked up inside the insulation. You'll need to strip insulation, get to good wire and reattach it. I'd even solder it to keep it solid. Hope this helps someone else!!
