Question about 1985 Honda VT 500 C Shadow

1 Answer

Front Tire Clicking

I just bought an 85 Shadow 500 and the front tire is clicking. It looks like the tire is off center and the round bolt head looking things on the rotor is hitting the brake housing.

SOURCE: front brake assembly

This is the only thing I could find on a 1972 CB200. Also Google " motorcycle repair manuals honda "
Go to the site below where you can see a parts diagram for your specific bike. You will select the actual brand, year, model, etc., once you go to the site. Part numbers and prices are also shown. You can order parts from this site. In the event no price is shown on a particular part, the part is not in stock. www.babbittsonline.com/pages/parts/viewbybrandand/parts.aspx

Also, the FixYa system is set up such that your posting disappears once it gets a solution. I am posting this as a clarification. This way the listing will not disappear and others will have a chance to help as well.

You should have disc brakes??? They are not adjustable.
It is common for a caliper piston to freeze up or become corroded and bind up so it will not move freely.

Does anyone know the bead width for the front tire hub on a s131 merits scooter. I want to replace the tire with a foam filled. Thanks.

The pioneer 3 S131 tire size is :
3.00 - 4 or
260 x 85 or
10" x 3"
The front foam filled tire is available from New Solutions 800-429-9600.
It is probably the ribbed rounded style tire # F057. This profile makes it easier to steer. I am attaching the catalog pictures to match the numbers on your existing tire to their product line. I would also recommend replacing both rear pneumatic tires with foam filled. Hope this helps.

1998 shadow ace 750 front end shake at or below mph with hands off bars that gets violent until hands are back on.

Check the front tire for uneven wear or out of round. Block the bike so that the front wheel is off the ground and rotate it to see if the rim or tire are out of round.
It may just be that it needs to be balanced.
Definitely track it down. Not a good way to ride.

Front Left tire clicks when moving, but stops when brakes are applied

The only piece between the bolts and the tire is the rim and you would know if your rims were missing. It sounds like the wheel bearing is the problem since anything else would cause other symptoms not listed in you post.
