Hi Anonymous, if you have a wide tire check for rubbing underneath the rear fender and belt, also check front tire rubbing against fender braces. Good luck

My front brake pads are rubbing the rotor on the front wheel at all times....how do I adjust to where the pads aren't rubbing anymore? Thank you!! Wayne H.

there is always a little drag that is normal otherwise the brake pads would rattle. if dragging in excess, usually the brake hose is bad and not letting the fluid return to the brake cylinder.. good luck

Front brake pads are not resting on the rim

Getting hand-brakes adjusted correctly is often a challenge, but they are adjustable with the right size wrenches. On the other hand, a front hand-brake on a child's one-speed bike is not necessary and is only on the bike to give it sales-appeal. If this is a one-speed bike, then it has a coaster brake (operated by pushing the pedals backwards). Actually the coaster brake is much safer than a front hand brake anyway. If the child applies the coaster brake too heavily, they will just skid. If they apply the front brake too heavily, they will go over the handlebars. If the hand brake is not interfering with the front wheel and is just not very effective, I would just leave it as-is. If the brakes rub on the tire, you should adjust them so they don't rub the tire.

Disc rub on brake pads

Hi,
First be sure the calipers are working properly. Test by pushing the brake hard and then spin the wheel. If this is new and it rubs - look closely and be sure it isn't the bend tab or warning tab rubbing. If they are old brakes replace as this is the warning you are needing to replace.
IF new - and they still rub - remove and inspect - be sure there is not a 'bend or warning tab' that is rubbing.
If there is no tab rubbing - you can SAND [ with sand paper] the BRAKE PAD carefully and squarely. I suggest you take these to a professional as the items I describe should be caught by a beginner.

Thanks for choosing

Front brake caliper is not releasing pressue and is allowing pad to rub disc. I have replaced seals and rotors.

Slight rubbing is normal. As long as they are not heating up or squealing, I'd say OK. If not slight rubbing, then master brake cylinder may have a clog not allowing fluid to return after brake use.

2000 FXDX front brake rubbing. I hear it rubbing as I'm driving. If I engage the front brake slightly, the rubbing noise stops. What is this?

Disc brakes rub slightly anyway, but your rotor might be a little warped, so you are getting more rubbing than you should. How hot is the rotor getting after a short ride? (don't burn yourself, they do get hot after use). Is the rotor discolored blue/brown anywhere from overheating? How are the pads? If the pads are worn down significantly, the pistons may not be returning fully into their bores, and they are holding the pads against the rotors. Hope this helps.

Driver side front brake rubs and overheats. brake

It sounds like the caliper slides themselves are sticking, remove your caliper and check that the caliper slides are lubricated and that the caliper slides easily on them

disc/rotor is warped in one spot, doesn't sound extreme...if it's buggin' you have it turned at a motorcycle shop, otherwise just ride my friend, it's not dangerous....Tim
