Is 10w40 the rite oil for a 00 zx900e

Use only a JASO MA certified motorcycle oil. Automotive oil uses different additives and will shorten the life of your wet clutch and transmission gears. Shell Rotella T Synthetic (15w-40 about $22) and Shell Rotella standard oil ($12 a gallon) for diesel engines , both are JASO MA rated for motorcycles.10w-40 oil is good for cold climate. 20w-50 for hot climate/touring. Synthetic oil will make your cycle run cooler and shift easier. For the engine you will probably need four quarts of oil, a filter, and a drain plug washer . Pour in three quarts and check the oil level by placing your motorcycle on the center standard looking at looking at the dip stick. Run the motor and top up as needed.
If changing the oil filter you will have to run the motor to get an accurate oil level reading.

How do i change the transmission fluid on my yamaha yx600? or does the oil do it all?

The motor oil lubricates both the engine and the transmission. For the engine you will probably need between 3 and four quarts of oil, an oil filter, and a drain plug washer . Pour in three quarts and check the oil level by placing your motorcycle on the center standard looking at looking at the dip stick. Run the motor to circulate the oil, recheck the level, and top up as needed.
If changing the oil filter you will have to run the motor to get an accurate oil level reading.

I have a 2005 Honda Civic coupe, i only have heat when accelerating and the car is running hot, I have replaced the thermostat, the car is still running hot, I had a test done on head gasket and the air...

there are only three places for coolant to leak.external leak to the outside of the motor, internal leak like a head gasket causing the motor to burn coolant(white smoke out the tailpipe),internal leak(coolant leak into the motor oil.)you say that the head gasket was tested and it was okay then this takes care of burning coolant, however it could be leaking into the motor oil.check the oil level and condition.I would think the tech would have checked this, but check it just in case.if the oil level is good and not thick or white or milky looking then this is not the problem.you could have a leak externally like a hose leaking a frost plug leaking, water pump leaking, this should be checked out by having the cooling system pressure tested a carefully inspected for leaks

Type of oil for a 1981 Yamaha Virago 750 hard to check because dip stick is missing.

The transmission oil and the engine oil are the same. Use only a JASO MA certified motorcycle oil. Automotive oil uses different additives and will shorten the life of your wet clutch and transmission gears. Shell Rotella T for diesel engines , both standard and synthetic are JASO MA rated.10w-40 oil is good for cold climate. 20w-50 for hot climate/touring. Synthetic oil will make your cycle run cooler and shift easier. Your final drive uses 80/90 hypoid gear oil. Synthetic hypoid oil will reduce friction and make your final drive run cooler. You will probably need four quarts of oil . Pour in three quarts and check the oil level by placing your motorcycle on the center standard looking at the level through the site glass on the left lower side of the motor.. Top up as needed. If changing the oil filter you will have to run the motor to get an accurate oil level reading.

Checking oil and transmission levels

you will check the oil with then engine off. Pull the oil dipstick (yellow one) and wipe clean. Reinsert the dipstick and pull out. The oil level should be in the hash marks. If the level is below the hash marks than start by adding one quart and recheck. One quart will change the oil level from the bottom of the hash marks to the top of the hash marks.

The transmission fluid needs to be checked with the engine running. Preferably warmed up to operating temperature. With your foot on the brake engage the transmission through all the gears and then back into park. With the engine still running remove the transmission dipstick (red one) and wipe clean. Reinsert the dipstick and pull out. The fluid level should be in btween the hot marks. If it is low start by adding 1/2 quart at a time through the transmission dipstick tube. You will need a funnel small enough to fit in the tube to do this. It will take a while for the fluid to drain out of the tube. Recheck check the fluid level and continue adding in 1/2 quart increments until the level is in between the hot marks.

I have a 98 mystique and they say my motor is gone but the car still runs just leakn atifreeze and its gettn on the battery and the oil light is on what could it be, it drives fine just runs hot we think...

It's possible that you 've got a blown head gasket and it's allowing water to enter into the oil chamber . The way to check this is if the oil on the dipstick is foamy or off color. If the oil level is high and the coolant level is getting low... this very well could be a blown head gasket. The've designed the gaskets to blow out as a kind of "weak link" so as to prevent further damage to the motor..

Runs Hot and Checking Oil

Well ambient temp around you, is it high?
Check your cooling system as it may not have good enough circulation. Beside the little window there is a little line telling you if you are in low, good or high oil level.

How to cheack the oil

there is a oil level window on the side of the motor when checking level have motorcycle upright and level you should have a low level line and a full line! pretty much any motorcycle grade oil avoid car oil it's not designed to work in a wet clutch enviroment also remember when changing the oil upright check level and top off oil after running engine 2 to 3 minutes (you have to fill the oil filter) wait 2 to 3 min. before checking level!
