Here is the part that I asked about, now my question is can I buy the rubber n clamp separate?

if your referring to the rubber boot on the shaft---yes you can
you can get genuine that will require you to remove the shaft from the vehicle so that the new boot can be installed
or
you can buy after market boot that allows you to place the boot around the joint and clip it together
It is a cheaper fix but will require careful fitting to get it to seal at the joined edges properly
Bands are supplied with either part
An accredited specialist drive shaft will have either boot kit and will be able to do wither job peoperly

jack the vehicle and secure it on car stands . remove the wheel . Undo the ball joint nut about half way. Use a special ball joint removing tool ( from any auto tool shop) and drive it between the ball end and the housing that the joint is fixed in to . The taper will spring apart against the nut . IF there is pressure on the nut use a jack or clamps to control the movement and remove the nut . Replace the boot and put the taper section back into the housing it came put of . Tighten the nut hard . pin or key it as required.

When i put the bike into gear it will not move. You can hear grinding from the rear. Any ideas?

Hi
That sounds like the bevel box gears at the rear wheel or the drive shaft to them
Pull back the rubber boot at rear of engine to check if shaft is rotating
remove rear wheel & check the output shaft from the bevel box is rotating
If not then remove bevel box & check splined join to drive shaft

How do I remove the outer CV joint from the axle?

After removing the axle assembly, clip the metal band on the large side of the rubber grease boot, slide the boot back on the axle shaft. Pull the outer CV housing and axle stub away from the CV joint. You will find that there is a circlip holding the bearing carrier onto the axle shaft, remove it. Remove the boot.

Installation is the reverse of removal.

Misfiring in 3rd and 4th gear

This sound like a timing issue, Check the points for proper gap, ck for proper timing, also ck the distributor shaft for looseness, or wabble, remove the cap and button and grab the shaft with your fingers and see if it moves back and forth, not in/out thats ok, but in a side to side type of movement. This can cause a missfire at hi rpm.

Under the rubber boot inside the CV joint is a big spring clip round the edge , take this out and then the shaft pulls away from the axle with the CV on it .If you are fitting a new boot cut the old off if not just get the clips off and pull the boot back.

Did you take the shaft out from the wheel hub end too ?
