SOURCE: air in rear shocks

Depending on your weight and if you carry a passenger as to the air pressure. I normally run about 14 but 24 if riding 2 up.
Recommended pressures:
up to 150 lbs- 0
each addition 25 rider pounds > 150 lbs add 1.0 lbs
each additional passenger pounds > 150 lbs add 1.5 lbs
each additional 10 lbs of laggage add 3.0 lbs
Max Pressure 35 psi

SOURCE: My 2003 Harley Ultra rear shocks hve no spring

Your ultra has rear air shocks. on the right side of the bike in the area of the fender is an air valve to install air. Do not add anymore then 25 lbs. a hand pump is safer an air compressor or gas station can have so much pressure it will blow the seals before you take the nozzel off. You will have to remove your hard bag to see the air input. Looks like a tire air nozzel should have a silver color cap on it.

SOURCE: Need to know how to remove rear shock stud to

The shock stud is removed by compressing the shock with a 20 ton press. Then you release the inner circlip and the unit comes apart. You should take care if you decide to do this. The shock compression is a very dangerous thing. I would recommend taking the shocks off, and taking it to a dealer where they shouldn't charge you more than 1 hour do disassemble and reassemble.

SOURCE: picture wiring diagram for 2003 harley fatboy

May I suggest a trip to your local library. Cycle repair books should be in 646 stacks of reference.
Otherwise you can Google for 2003 Clymer Service manuals on the internet.
I think Clymer had electrical diagrams in their books. I doubt that any except the HD service book would have anything about the physical location of the harness, but the pictures in the other books would help you.

Adjusting shocks

To remove lift rear tire slightly off the ground then remove the shock attaching bolt and washer with a special Snap-On adapter PN SRES24 and then remove the flange locknut and washer with grommet at the front of the shock. To reinstall put the washer and grommet inside the frame and put the bushing over the stud end of the shock and put the stud end through the keyed frame tube and loosely install the flange locknut. THEN coat the shoulder of the shock bolt (1) with ANTI-SEIZE compound and the bolt threads with blue loctite and insert the bolt and washer through the shock end and pivot the shock to align the bolt and the hole in the rear fork. Then tighten the shock bolt with the Snap-on adapter and since the adapter is not going to be at 90 degrees to the torque wrench it will lengthen the torque wrench and therefore the torque value must be computed with a torque computer such as the Snap-On PN SS-306G.Tighten the bolt and washer at the rear to 115-130 ft-lbs (155.9-176.2 Nm) and tighten the flange locknutto 32-39 ft-lbs (43.4-52.9 Nm). Then adjust the shocks equally with a special shock adjustment spanner.

To adjust the shocks loosen the locknuts and turn the adjuster plates OUT towards the locknut to increase the spring preload for a heavier load or IN away from the locknut to decrease the spring preload for a lighter load. You should MARK the adjuster plates before you begin so you can know when you have equally adjusted both shocks to the same position.

My 2006 Fatboy front end vibrates above 60mph

Hi Anonymous, and the usual suspects are:
1. Improperly loaded motorcycle. Non standard equipment on the front end such asheavy radio receivers, extra lightning equipment or luggage tends to cause unstable handling.
2. Incorrect air suspension pressure.
3. Damaged tire(s) or improper front-rear tire combination
4. Irregular or peaked front tire tread wear.
5. Incorrect tire pressure.
6. Shock absorber not functioning normally.
7. Loose wheel axle nuts.
8. Excessive wheel hub bearing play.
9. Improper vehicle alignment.
10.Steering head bearings improperly adjusted.
11. Tire and wheel unbalanced.
12. Rims and tires out of round or eccentric with hub.
13. Rims and tires out-of-true sideways.
14. Shock absorber improperly adjusted.
15. Worn engine stabilizer links.
16. Damaged rear engine isolation mounts.
17. Swing arm pivot shaft nut improperly tightened or assembled.
Good luck and have nice day

I have a 2003 flstci and I'm trying to adjust the rear shocks. Do I take the weight off the back tire or leave the weight on the back tire to adjust them.

The bike should have both wheels on the ground when you adjust the shocks. If you're adding weight to the bike, you can still adjust the shocks with the additional weight onboard but the adjuster will turn easier if the extra weight is not there.

I think i have done the bushes in swingarm of my 2003 fatboy . is it a big job to change them

Well, it's not the most difficult job on your bike but it is a good size job. You'll have to remove the rear wheel, the rear brake caliper (which means you'll have to bleed the brakes when you reassemble it), remove the rear fender with the electrics for the brake light, disconnect the shocks underneath the bike, and any saddlebags or sissy bars that might be on the bike. The swing arm is not that complicated but a lot of stuff has to come off to replace the bearings. I've attached a drawing of the swingarm.

Good Luck
