Oil light flickers at idle

Could be the idle is too slow.
Most guys like that "Potato" sound at a slow idle. However, to get that sound the idle is lower than factory recommendation. This actually causes the oil pump to not produce enough oil pressure (oil light, anyone?).
Try speeding up idle to around 1,000 RPMs.
The recommendation on my S&S motor is 950-1050 RPMs, just for example.

I have a 1999 harley sporty 883 I just started having problems starting it recently I replaced the battery and still nothing I do not even get a click I also have no headlight but the horn works I checked...

Contact me directly at wd4ity@bellsouth.net and I'll send you a scanned copy of the wiring diagram of your bike. You need to find your starter relay. There is a red wire that goes to it directly from the ignition switch. You need to check for voltage. Then there is another wire that comes from the start switch and a wire that goes to the backside of the starter. If you have a test light, find the single small green wire that plugs onto the backside of the starter. Put your test light into this wire, turn the ignition switch on, and press the start button. It should light the test light. If not, your problem is back up the line from there. If it does, your problem is in the starter. I've looked at the schematics and I can find no link between the headlight not working and starter not working. Have you checked the instrument lights and the tail light? Make sure you check the fuses using the test light. With the ignition switch on, they should have power on BOTH ends of the fuses.

Good Luck

1999 sportster , the directionals dont work . tail lights and hazards work fine

Contact me directly and I'll send you some information. It's for an earlier model Big Twin but I think the information is still good for your Sporty. wd4ity@bellsouth.net Remind me of what you need.

When I turn on the ignition on my 2005 sportster 883, the speedo lights up like in "acc" mode, but the bike doesnt go to ignition mode. The head and tail lights are not comming on and the oil and engine...

I'd probably look at the ignition switch. The earlier Sporty's had a three position switch, Off, Ignition, and Acc.. Unless Harley has changed their switches on the Sporty, it sounds like your switch has went bad on you.

Lost my running on 2002 sportster

the running and headlight are on different terminals of the main light switch,so either the switch has lost power ,=fuse, plug and socket loose or adrift, or in the switch the rotary plate which bridges the contacts as its rotated is broken or adrift, cant be sure but dosnt the ign switch energise the light, the wiring diagram would show if it is or not

I have a set of 2 piece fat bobs that i want to mount. What do i do

A Sportster frame was not designed to have a set of Fat Bob tanks mounted on them. I don't know of anyone that makes a set of brackets that will adapt the Sporty frame for such a set of fuel tanks. I have seen the tanks on Sportsters before but the mounting brackets were custom made by the owners.

My sporty 883 2007 don't start when pushed the start button, it has all lights good. I have to pull the clutch lever and starts inmediatly. What can i do?

Evidently, Harley has added a safety switch to the clutch lever. The starter will not activate until the clutch lever is pulled in. Since I don't have a schematic for a bike this late, I can't tell for certain but that would be my guess. The owner's manual should tell you this.

No start sporty

It could be the ignition key switch..They are the number one thing that goes out in these bikes,,Check for power on the side that comes out of the key switch,,Make sure you have power going in and coming out..If no power out then suspect bad key switch...
