To check to see if that tip has broken off, there is a magnetic pick up tool, stiff or flexible depending on the need. That would easily draw that out of there. More than likely that is the problem.Or someone sold you the wrong dipstick.

SOURCE: Broken Dip Stick

Most dipstick tubes are a "press fit" into the engine block, and can usually be removed without pulling the engine (if you can get to it).

However, it may be broken off too short, or the mechanic simply cannot reach it with the engine in the car.

Personally, I would get a second opinion before you pay all that money to get a $10 dipstick tube to be replaced.

Try the local Ford dealer. Most of the time, a seasoned dealer mechanic knows "tricks" to do different things.

SOURCE: dip stick tubing

if the end that is on the bottom of the new tubing is smooth then the old one should twist out with a bit of force no particular direction to pull off though just twisting

Hi!!

the dipstick tube is fasten by a bolt either at the bottom or in the middle of the tube, if it was at the middle, I don't think it would have broken. Look at the base of the dipstick tube where it goes into the engine block, there should be a bolt, use a 10 mm. socket and a long extension to remove it., then pull the tube out.

I believe the dipstick tube is bent, that's why the dipstick can't go all the way into the oil pan.

Good Luck!! Don't forget.to rate this post!!

SOURCE: The oil dip stick handle

One way is to remove the tube from the engine block or the other way is to use a coat hanger and heat the end of the hanger red and then slide into the tube as so it can melt into the plastic try not to wiggle hanger and allow to cool then try to pull out, this may need to be done a few times to remove the dip stick, note dont push down hard as to not push the stick in further, hope this helps.

I need to remove the dip stick tube from engine i broke the dip stick the head

I would definitely try to easy a magnetic extendable pen or this is a pic of a silver flexible tool retriever on my creeper just to have a dark background, you push the right hand side and these little fingers extend and spread out on the left side, when you release the button the fingers will retract and grab that dipstick to pull it out.
image-apkbkthoj5ylrtldgldshfje-1-0.jpg If these two ideas do not work or the tools are not available, then usually you will need to remove the oil pan from the bottom of the engine. you will see where the dip stick tube is bolted on if you need to remove the tube.. But while the oil pan is off the broken dip stick will be sitting there and you can pull it through the bottom, replace the oil pan gasket with a new one and those bolts are usually set to a specific torque setting. Please follow up in the comments with more vehicle information, or if you are successful I'd like to hear back from you Good Luck!!!

The transmission dip stick was missing on my 2004 GMC Envoy when I bought it. I bought a universal dip stick to replace. What is the correct length of the dip stick from top to bottom from the opening?

Do not use a universal dipstick, go to a dealer or to salvage yard to get the proper dipstick. Correct transmission fluid is important for the operation of the ******.

2003 holden rodeo auto gearbox. I have taken the oil from the bottom of the sump nut out and have been replacing the oil from the dip stick. Is this correct and how much oil do I replace, or is it just...

Taking the oil from bottom sump is correct n yes putting it back via the dip stick is correct too. But b4 u guage, start up the car, engage gear with leg on the brakes if stationary, try reverse too 4 a while, legs on brakes again if stationary bring to neutral, still on hand brake up. Then guage to d required dip stick mark. Note: b4 starting up n engaging gears be sure u ve put in some oil first n pls do not let it over guage, go past the mark on dip stick, if it does drain a bit at a time till u get it right.

How do you remove broken oil dipstick from a 1999 ford escort?

The dip stick tube is pressed into the engine block. Put a bolt into the top of the tube so that the body of the bolt goes into the tube and the bolt head rests on the tube (so it does not fall down the tube). Use a wrench (such as a Vise grip) to hold onto the tube at the bolt and gently work it back and forth, being sure not to deform the tube. Remove the tube and old dip stick. Replace the tube by forcing it back into the eng. block. Replace the dip stick - done :)! Some dip stick tubes have a gasket at the engine - others just **** up to a shoulder that is built into the tube. Let me know if this works. Thanks.
