SOURCE: oil drain plug

It is located on the right side just under the oil tank ; if you follow the rudder hose that exits the rear right side of your oil tank it leads to the bottom of the frame under this is the oil plug. This hose has a plug clamped to the end of it or stuck into a prug that is welded to the frame.
After this unclamp and pull the plug to make sure that you have the dipstick out before pulling it loose.

Please do rate the solution as "FixYa" if found useful and revert for further assistance.

SOURCE: removing front wheel from harley davidson heritage

first take off the brake caliper takes a 10 mm socket..Next jack front of bike up just enough to take pressure off front tire...take off the axle nut lbit more to take pressure off axleock washer and flat washer...Next remove two axle support nuts from the right side of bike 1/2 in socket. now jack bike up a hair more to releave pressure off axle push, hammer with a rubber hammer or what ever it takes to drive it through. jack bike up so it clears fender. Sometimes the tire won't clear the fender bolts if so just release air from tire and it will clear. good luck. Its not hare at all.

How do you tighten the front turn signal on a 1991 Harley heritage softail

Sorry but i do not go back that far and as you have still not had an answer unhappily it looks like others do not either. Depending on later styles that might be the same if there is an Allen key socket in the housing and. or a 1/2 inch nut on a mounting stud you would use those.

How to take a starter off a 1995 Harley Davidson heritage softail

Remove the primary cover. Remove the small bolt at the end of the starter. From the right side of the bike, remove the two bolts holding the starter to the back side of the primary housing. This job is much easier if you remove the oil tank to get at the starter bolts, but I have done it with the oil tank in place, by using long ball allen wrenches. Always replace the locking tabs at the end of the starter when replacing the starter, or removing it from the bike for any reason,

My speedo does not work on my 2000 heritage softail. The flashers do not cancel and the mileage and trip meter do not work

Hi Bernard, try cleaning your speed sensor located on top of the transmissions right side between the top cover and the chrome starter end cap on Twin Cams and on top of the engine case between the rear cylinder and the starter motor for Sportsters. Remove the the bolt that secures the sensor and pull it out of the transmission. Inspect sensor for obvious damage and repace if necessary. If sensor has no damage then wipe clean any obvious contamination like micro fiberous material with a clean rag and reinstall, torque bolt to 8 ft lbs. I have a Heritage Softail 2000 model. Could you please help me. how do you change the rear brake light globe. Also is it possible to lift the instrument panel as the leather phone pouch which goes under...

Depending on whether you have the "tombstone" type tail light or the standard tail light, take out the screws and remove the lens. You can get to the bulb once you remove the lens.

To remove the dash panel, remove the small screw inside the trip meter reset knob and pull the knob off in there is one. Then remove the center bolt or nut from the dash. Work the dash up and you'll see two prongs coming off the bottom side of the dash for the leather phone pouch. Raise the dash just high enough to push the pouch edge back under the dash.

Good Luck

How do u replace a speedo cable on a 1989 FLST/C

As best as I can remember, the speedo cable comes off the front wheel on this model. You'll have to remove the trip reset knob and the center nut that holds the dash on. Remove the dash and unscrew the cable from the bottom of the speedo. Notice how the cable is routed to the wheel drive unit so you can put it back in the same location. There is usually some "flats" on the cable down at the drive unit that are about a 1/4". Use a wrench or a pair of pliers to unscrew the cable from the drive unit. Installing the new cable it the reverse of removing the old one.

Don't forget to lube the new cable. Take the inner cable out of the cable housing, put a wad of grease in your hand, and drag the inner cable through the wad of grease to lubricate it.

Good Luck
