Question about Ducati Monster 900 Motorcycles

My ducati motorbike will not start after long journeys even though she has been riding fine I then wait 15 mins and she starts no problems

Hi, Bruce and the usual suspects are:
1. Fuel tank empty.
2. Fuel supply valve/petcock turned off.
3. Fouled spark plugs.
4. Engine flooded as a result of overuse of the enricher.
5. Vacuum hose to the fuel supply valve/petcock disconnected, broken, cracked, or pinched.
6. Fuel valve/petcock or filter clogged.
7. Discharged battery, check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
8. Loose or corroded wire connection at the coil, battery or plug between ignition sensor and module.
9. Spark plug cables in bad condition and shorting, cable connections loose, or connected to the wrong cylinders.
10. Ignition timing incorrect due to a faulty ignition coil, ignition module or sensors (MAP, CMP, CKP, O2 and/or BAS).
11. Security alarm needs a reset.

SOURCE: engine cuts out

It sounds like something is preventing the bike from getting fuel. Check fuel filter, fuel tank vent, air filter too. If you have vacuum building up in the tank, letting the bike sit for a few minutes slowly releases that vacuum allowing the pump to pull fuel easily again for a bit. Next time the bike quits open your fuel tank. If you hear a whoosh of air being sucked in look for a plugged vent line. A plugged air filter can have a similar effect but the only way to check that is change the air filter or look at the one you have. It would have to be really, really dirty or plugged with some debris to cause this problem.

SOURCE: very hard to start after the engine is hot

I had this problem before. Here a quick glimpse of what could have been the problem:

Fuel is is filled into the carburetor by the float switch. Starting from cold, its just normal that the carburetor is up and ready for a start. As you cruise along, the carburator is filled up with fuel coming from the fuel tank and is regulated by the float switch. Now, if the engine consumes more fuel than the rate of flow by the float switch, then it will drain the carburetor fuel reservoir empty. What could be the cause? You guessed it right... dirty jets or clogged fuel jet on the float switch. Solution: Open up the carb, clean every hole with wire brush. Blow compressed air on the needles and every hole you could see.. Take not of the ball bearings inside make sure there isnt anything loose when blowing with compresssed air.

Assemble the carb back and cruise for 20 minutes.

Other cases: dirty spark plugs, missfiring plugs, or worse case, CDI ..

Unscrew your gas cap when it is dying to see if it is plugged up not letting any air in. It sounds like it is creating a vaccuum in the tank and by switching lines you relieve it temporarily. Good luck hope this helps...

SOURCE: the tachometer on my 2001 ducati monster s4 has stopped working

Check the cable. I've broken one myself on my 900CR 2 valve. The cable should run from the back of the tach to the top of the front cylinder head. I'm pretty sure in 2001 they were still using a cable for the Monster S4's. Start there. Unscrew both ends and see if you're missing one end or the other.

2002 mitsubishi galant runs fine 15 min. wont start wait 20min it will start


As with any no start issue, you will need to figure out if you are dealing with a no spark or no fuel pressure problem to proceed.
I would check those things the next time it will not start.
Could be a relay, coil, sensor, or other component.

Hi I have Prima lv 3228p tv and there is no volume it was working fine yesterday andtoday no volume


prima lv-3228p lcd tv-after 15 mins of play the screen goes funny and there is still volume but the remote will not function. you cannot even shut the unit off, only by disconnecting the power supply. If you wait 15 -20 mins and plug the unit back in it will work for approx 15 mins again- then it will start acting up again?/

Engine starts and runs,mows for 30 min then chokes


i had the same problem i talked to a repair shop and they said the coil was going bad and when it heats up there is a short in it (follow the spark plug wire back to the motor and the coil is there ) i replaced the coil pack and problem solved, hope this helps.

1990 vette runs fine after 15-20 min won't start then wait 20 -min runs fine again until i shut it off


I had the same problem. Turns out,( and I didn't believe it when I was told) but, my problem turned out to be cheap (inferiour) plugs and wired. I was reccomended to use NKG plugs and Borg-Warner wires.

I had the same problem on my craftsman 18.5 hp, the problem was in the choke, the spring was broken, and the choke was not free, replaced the spring and it is fine now. Check it out. Good luck.

it feels like it will stall. Doesn't do it all the time maybe after i've been riding for 20 mins or so. At the time i thought it was the Throttle position sensor (or so i was advised by Ducati Melbourne) and that cost me over 1k to 'fix'. I say fix because it reduced the problem. Instead of doing it every ride it did it maybe once every 4-5 rides. Have no idea what it is, taken it to dealerships and of course it won't play up on them when its there. It hasn't done it in the past 4 months, since i changed my sprockets and chain over. Then last night, it was a warmer night so i took it out and guess what, hour and a half into the ride started misfiring to the point where it was almost unrideable. I thought it could be a heat problem, even though last nights weather was around 14-15 degrees Celsius, i've ridden in warmer weather during the weekend. I've dropped enough coin on this puppy and although i love her to death i think its time i move on and remove this headache.,9 times out of 10, what your describing is an A/F mixture problem. I don't remember why we agreed with you, the timing sensor could have been bad, its been a while. Have you tossed the bike on a dyno and check the A/F mixture? I wouldn't doubt its way off and to be honest, it could be a very simple adjustment, you're dealer never found.,,,

Computer won't start up!


Waiting for 10 or 15 or even 30 minutes doesn't make much sense to me. What kind of flash drive or drives do you use? .. USB Thumb/Pen/Flash drive? .. If your flash drives in "My Computer" folder just happen to disappear, does the computer still working or freezed state? When you say your computer does not want to start on AT ALL.' the machine is not running at all or just that the operating system is not booting up?
