Try using some either (starting fluid) spray it in the airbox and see if the condition improves. if it does troubleshoot fuel delivery, start at the tank and make sure you are getting fuel to the carbs. if you are then chances are your carburetors need to be cleaned

The Scooter was only ridden for 63miles around neighborhood. Then sat for about six months now wont start was told gas could be old. What to do

Best bet would be to empty the fuel left in it then buy some fuel stabilizer and refill fill the tank with good gas also check the battery and fuses.

Engine will crank but want rev up charging system metered at 13.7 volts

Hi, Martie if your bike has been idle for months or years and does not want to start you will have to deal with a few remedies:
1. Drain and flush fuel tank, google " how to clean a motorcycle gas tank" find a couple forums to view the different options available.
2. Remove your air cleaner and clean and re-oil per Mfg. specifications.
3. Remove the carburetor, disassemble and decontaminate with a carb dip or if you have EFI remove injectors and clean with carb spray and compressed air
4. Remove fuel valve and filter disassemble and clean as necessary, remove fuel lines and replace with new ones.
5. Replace spark plug with a new one and check for spark.
Good luck and have a nice day.

Canadian bike 1991 Yamaha fj1200,50,000kms. engine sputtering at all speeds. Bike can be ridden (barely). No throtle response when cranked full from cruising speed. Fuel tank was drained & checked for...

Chances are there is a water build up in the carb float bowls. The water comes from condensation in the gas tank. Try draining the carbs. Another possibility is carburetor main jets partially plugged up. You must clean the carbs if plugged jets are found to be the problem. Please rate my answer. Thanks. tombones49_152.gif

Take to long to start.. takes almost ten minutes of kick starting... electric starter wont turn over to start bike yamaha ttr 125

The TTR-125 Carburetor's Run Lean by design. Mine had the same issues till I found a post on Thumpertalk.com on Carb and air box Mod. This is a good starting point on gets; 110 and 112.5 main and 17.5 pilot. But you must check spark plug coloring to make sure the jetting is correct. Check spark plug after the bike has been ridden for a wile. I also took out the stock baffle and replaced it with exhaust tip and now it fires up after a few kicks and worms up in a few minutes.

It's been sitting for 4 years - It's in very good condition - barely ridden - I've replaced the battery, plugs, gas - cleaned the carberator - it turn over, but wont crank... suggestions?

Clean the air filter if you have not done it yet. Get a spray can of starting fluid and spray into the filter. You did check the plugs for spark didn't you? If no spark, check the sidestand kill switch as well as the handlebar kill switch.

I have a rm 125 and it keeps fouling out the

It is likely your jetting. If your plug is wet it's either way too rich or you are not running the engine hard enough to keep it cleaned out. The smaller 2-strokes don't like to be ridden calmly unless the jetting is spot on and even then they can load up. They were designed to be ridden hard.

This is a fairly easy thing to repair, but it's a bit complicated to learn.

I would suggest popping over to allthingsmoto (dot) com and poking around a little - tons of threads on the site about jetting and how to do it. You'll see me over there.

I have a gsxr400 slingshot that wont start. it turns over until the battery dies an some times get a loud backfire. what way do the plug leads go? thanks

Cylinders are numbered 1 to 4 going from left to right, as you would see them when sitting on the bike. The left hand Ignition coil fires cylinders 1 and 3, and right hand ignition coil fires cylinders 2 and 4. Check to make sure you are getting spark on all cylinders.

SPUTTERING WHEN HOLDING 50-60 MPH

Since it ran fine before you "fixed" it, go back over the things you changed. Put the old spark plugs back in it. Double check all spark plug wires and ignition connections. Put the bike in a dark area and run it at night, can you see any arcing anywhere?

Basicaly brand new cr25o mx bike wont start

Assuming you are using fresh gas. Check to see if gas is coming out of the line, if not blow back up into the tank and if that works there's dirt in the tank. Check the spark by removing the plug and kicking it over with the plug touching the engine, look for spark. If no spark, try a new plug, if still no spark, you have a stator problem. It wouldn't hurt to clean the air filter in any case. Good luck!
