SOURCE: I am looking for a

You can purchase a Haynes manual (#0249) for the airhead twins for a little less than $50. Most bookshops and motorcycle dealerships sell or can get these manuals. Check online too, maybe some used manuals out there.

Other alternative is the OEM BMW factory service manual.... it is a bit more technical and assumes that you know most of the basic BMW stuff. Order from a BMW dealer.

Good Luck!

Problem with braking.-right foot depresses both brake pedal and accelerater

Try adjusting the brakes first. There is an adjustment nut in the pedal that sets the up height for the pedal. Might want to look into raising the pedal that way. You may not have enough brake fluid in the master cylinder. Check and adjust fluid level if necessary.

Adjust foot brake lever

A low brake pedal is usually due to worn brake pads. If you do need to adjust the pedal height, remove the linkage from either the pedal assy, or the master cylinder, loosen the lock nut and turn the linkage counter clockwise to the desired height, re-snug the lock-nut and re-install.

The clutch pedal on Suzuki vitara two litre V6 1998 goes to about inch of floor before activation. Clutch does not slip just too much pedal travel. Is it possible to adjust it? ...

prev.gif next.gif Clutch ADJUSTMENTS 1997-98 Models CLUTCH PEDAL HEIGHT The clutch pedal height should not be a periodic adjustment but may be checked after components of the mechanical clutch system have been replaced. The proper clutch pedal height should be 0.2 in. (5mm) above the brake pedal height If adjustment is necessary, loosen the locknut and turn the adjusting bolt until the appropriate height is reached. Once set, keep the bolt from turning and tighten the locknut to secure the adjustment. CLUTCH PEDAL FREE-PLAY The clutch pedal free-play should be checked from time-to-time in order to assure proper clutch operation. The proper clutch free-play should be 0.6-1.1 in. (15-25mm). Fig. 1: Pedal free-play is adjusted at the joint nut (2), while keeping the outer cable nuts (3) tightened around the center cable thread portion 7924hg30.gif
  1. Before servicing the vehicle, refer to the precautions in the beginning of this section.
  2. If the free-play must be adjusted, turn the joint nut (2) located at the transmission end of the clutch cable in or out, as necessary to achieve the proper play.
  3. Once the correct pedal free-play is obtained, check the free-play on the release arm (c), it should be 0.02-0.06 in. (0.5-1.5mm).
1999-01 Models These vehicles are equipped with a hydraulic clutch system. No adjustment is necessary.

There is too much downward play (slack) in the rear brake pedal before the brakes engage. Is there a way to adjust that? There is sufficient pad left. All fluid levels are correct and the fluid is fresh....

Hi Russ:

There is some adjustment at the threaded rod between the rear master cylinder and the brake pedal. Kinda hard to describe, but you loosen the locking nut and turn the rod a few turns to make it longer and raising the pedal...... BUT the brake switch is separate and too much adjustment will cause the ABS modulator pump to run... not a good thing. Basically, brake pedal height is non adjustable.... just have to get used to it.

Yes, the ABS pump runs whenever the brakes are applied. Your '04 1150GSA has the power assisted ABS brakes.
