Turn your fuel tank petcock to 'reserve'.
the fuel is fed thru a vacuum valve (opens to allow fuel to pass when running or turning over). fuel is delivered via gravity otherwise (tank is higher than the carbs).

95 Isuzu p/u fuel pump runs with key in the start position, but fuel pump does not run with key in the on position

The fuel pump only runs when the engine is being cranked or of course is running, it is shut off after about 1 second in the run only position.

Geo wont start after running dry

Hello, I would replace the fuel filter. Sometimes the sediment gets sucked up by the fuel pump when run out of gas and clogs the fuel filter. Good luck.

No power to fuel pump

power as in measured 12vdc power? or it dont buzz. power.
most all, cars, and trucks, no year stated.?
the pump can only run ,cranking or running engine.
some you get fuel prime for 3 seconds, only key on.
so if you check the pump it WILL Be dead. no 12vdc (by design)
so crank it.
rules if the road.
the PCM will cut fuel if it thinks spark is bad. (and others ,ask)
so fueling is last.
unless the pump is dead cranking, is it dead cranking?
dead means , either no 12vdc to pump cranking or pressure is too low cranking.

Fuel pump wont come on

ok, you never said how you know that>?
1: pressure zero
2: crack fitting dribble tests?
3: cant hear it ( i cant either cranking,)
some cars about 1/2 only run the jump cranking and running.
not just key on. (FSM is the only book that answers this tricky question)
some cars have ECU flash updates that change this rule.
so read the TSB on that..

why not post the symptoms so pros can answer.....?????

1: cranks ok
2: no start.
3: spark is good and compression all good, on all cylinders
if compression is low on all , the timing belt fell off, and BOOM !

4: spark good, you try test fuel.
a: runs for 3 seconds, suspect no injection.
b: dont run, at all bad that, check compression at WOT on all cyl.

suspect bad injection;
A: check pressure cranking, (no key on, but cranking)
i get 30psi, its good.
i get 5 psi or 0 , bad pump or now 12vdc to pump cranking.
B: pump at 30pis cranking
so i run a NOID lamp test on all injectors,
it fails... (ask for how to go past here...... longer story....

more complex than you though , huh?

My 1kz prado is not starting opened the injector nozzle no fuel comes when engine is cranked. Had a diagnosis fault fuel control sensor relay changed it but still no fuel come on the nozzle. Please advise...

When you switch the ignition on, you should hear the fuel pump run for a few seconds, then stop. What the system is now waiting for is the crank angle sensor input, to tell it to run the pump again. If you have a crank angle sensor problem (or immobiliser problem) the pump will not switch on again, so no fuel pressure. You need to establish if the pump runs and builds fuel pressure when you crank. Pump runs, but no pressure? No fuel getting into pump, out of fuel, or strainer blocked up, pump unit worn out.

My 98 e320 runs and then dies...? Sometime crank right up and run sometime won't crank for a while. Replaced pump and filter ?.

you should check on your battery cables, chasis cables, and engine bay cables related to your ground or bad connection in between connectors, terminals or hubs.

Replaced starter and wont start. Im wondering if it is the shut off switch in the trunk? does the switch have to be up or down?

the starter cranks the engine, the switch in the trunk has a button that you depress to reset the fuel pump. if the fuel pump doesnt operate then the switch may tripped, the button is DOWN. So does the engine crank? does it not crank? cranks but wont run? if it cranks but wont run, then check the switch in the trunk. Power goes to that switch and then to the pump, so if that switch has power going through it, and the pump doesnt work, the pump is bad. when turning the key on you should hear the pump go on for 2 seconds.
