Hi cbloom,
You will have to probabley adjust the clutch either from the end of the cable at the side cover or from the above at the handle lever.

Good Luck .

Sidestand must be retracted and sidestand switch functioning or the engine dies as a safety feature to keep you from riding off with the sidestand down. If the sidestand is up and it still dies, disconnect the sidestand switch and put a jumper in there. If the problem goes away, your switch is faulty.

The clutch's plates must be stuck.Disassemble them and renew if necessary. The clutch lever should have 3mm freeplay and the spring's bolts should be tighten at 14Nm.

125cc Kawasaki dirt bike, cranks on first kick, idles but won't run in any gear, doesn't die out but doesn't seem to engage gear, possible problems?

Does it jerk forward when you put it into gear and die? Or you put it into gear and the bike doesn't move when you let the clutch out? Badly adjusted clutch in both cases. Worst case, you need new clutch plates and springs.

Originally, i was experiencing slippage in the lower gears but after a week it has moved to all gears..Is it possible this is a chain issue? This is a 2003 kawasaki vulcan 800.

Hello Mike
As the slippage has got worse through each gear now, it sounds like clutch slippage. at first you would of only noticed it in the lower gears as they have more mechanical advantage but as the wear in the clutch got more it now takes less power "torque" to make it slip.
This may just be adjustment, but by now the clutch may be worn out, yo should have some free travel in the cable. should be evident at the lever, usually allow the thickness of the end knob as a distance for the lever to move before it starts to disengage the clutch. there could be adjustment at either end of the cable, this will look like a thread with a lock nut that the cable goes through.

Gears seem to want to slip out and make a winning noise in certain gears too is my gearbox done for or is it more likely clutch it's Audi a3 with 130000 on the clock and clutch is very high too any...

gears slipping out will be indicated by the gear lever jumping into neutral. This can be from incorrect rear engagement from a loose worn pivot in the gear lever tower or something stopping the gear lever from moving properly.. Clutch problems are indicated by --going to the floor. crashing 1st gear, engines rpm s climbing without an appreciable vehicle speed increase. If there is a fault in the gear box it will be only in the gear engaged (missing teeth-chipped ) and not all gears. If it is a bearing then there will be no noise in 4th gear
Boxes are repairable as mostly it only needs that faulty part to be replaced

Clutch not working

Hi Inge, not to worry steel plates got a little rust film from sitting probably. Let the bike warm up for a few minutes then do the push, run, jump on the seat routine while in nuetral and drop it in 1st gear and drive it around for a while the plates will eventually break free and peace on earth and good will to all mankind will prevail. Try using 20w50 Harley Davidson SYN 3 in the primary and next winter don't put the bike in storage with the engine hot. Wait untill the next day and fire it up drop it in gear for 30 seconds then put it away for winter storage. Good luck

Yamaha Pw80 clutch

The PW80 does not have a manual hand lever clutch, its a 3 speed semi auto. The bike will jerk and shut off when put in gear. If I put it in gear while rolling then it will work. Any ideas?

Jumps forward when put in gear as if no clutch yamaha 350 big bear

Isnt this an automatic trans? Does it have a shifter by your foot,or at your hands? If its at your hands, then it could be that its just idling too high, and needs to be lowered. If it isnt auto, and has a clutch lever, try adjusting the clutch at the lever.
