Question about 2008 kawasaki Concours 14
1st system was smoke out of left upper fairing on start up Suspect leaking valve cover gasket is culprit. However my idle is jumping up/down 2000rpm. Could this be related to a vacuum leak due to oil leak or is this highly unlikely? At 1st the idle jumped up to 3000rpm and stayed steady. I than adjusted it to 1100 and it stayed steady for about 30min ride than it went the other way and died at every street light( I'm guessing it than corrected itself and now I had it set 2000 RPGs to low ?" Any ideas? I was just getting this running after winter layup. Was on battery tender and ran/started perfectly other than these issues
Hi, John and the usual suspects are:
1. Extremely lean fuel mixture.
2. Dirt, rust, water, or ethanol sludge in the fuel system.
3. Sticky throttle cables.
4. Multiple carburetors not in synchronization.
5. TPS sensor out of adjustment or faulty.
6. Wrong spark plugs for the type of service.
7. Throttle bodies not in synchronization (FI)
8. Faulty O2 sensor.
9. Clogged, stuck, or faulty IAC valve.
10. Aftermarket components not compatible with ECM.

SOURCE: Rear end squeak and fuel guage
If the squeek is only happening when rolling the throttle then the squeek will be from your drive belt still & you will find that it is still too loose. Try being in a quiet street, do less than 20mph then roll & release throttle a number of times. Make sure Belt is adjusted when the engine is at correct operaing temperatue.
