Question about 2000 Yamaha V-Max
Starts and runs ok till it gets hot then misfires if turned off will not restart for about 1 hour
I've had the same problem since last tune up. 'H' at Exactrep sorted it. It is almost certainly plug caps. I changed tmine for NGK's and the fault stopped IMMEDIATELY. Apparently a well know solution for those in the know. My bike was also running rough at low revs. This appears to have been due to the previous service where they overtightened the clips that seal the hoses that connect to the carbs. Each of them had a split causing air to be pulled in. Change the caps first, see what happens. Pete...

Check and make sure that your choke cable is not bound. (make sure that it turns on and off properly) small engines need more fuel to start when cold and that is what the choke is for. if it is stuck open, the bike will start like a champ when cold but will not start when hot. check your spark plugs. if they are all charred and black thats a dead give away. if all that works then this problem might be due to ignition coil. check for spark when engine is hot and will not start.
