Question about 2006 Yamaha V Star 1100 Classic

1 Answer

My 2006 vstar 1100 classic wont start. i checke the fuses and kick stand switch. it is in neutral. when i tried to start it the other day, i turned over like it had a weak batter , as i havent ridden in a while. i charged the batter and nothing happens. this would happen every once in a while. i dont cover it, so maybe its the starter button or the kill switch?

Could also be your starter relay. Try jumping the terminals on the relay and see if the bike attempts to start if so then you have forund your problem.

I've a 2000 Vstar classic 1100, I purchased an alarm system for it, and was trying to install the remote starter, till I blew a few fuses, replaced the blown fuses, now I'm left with no neutral indicator...

You have probably just blown the neutral light bulb, try starting the bike with the clutch in & side-stand up.
If still not starting suspect the starter cut-out relay, but its still worth check both clutch & side-stand switches for continuity
If you need more help I will need more information.

Sounds like it may be drawing air around the intake somewhere. Let it idle and spray around carefully with wd-40 until it speeds up. This will reveal the leak.

99 vstar 1100 quits when put in gear

couple of things to look for.

1. when you're putting it in gear, is the kick stand up or down. if down, most modern day bikes have a kick stand safety switch which will not allow you to put the bike in gear with the side stand down. this little relay may have failed. its usually located near the kick stand.

2. clutch disks may be stuck together. it happens on my old bikes from sitting too long (over a winter). when i pop it into first gear after i start it w/ clutch lever pulled, it will buck forward and die. i have to repeat a few times to get them unstuck.

good luck
