Hi,
The first thing you need to check is the air filter. Sometimes critters can get into the airbox when a bike sits for awhile. Sounds crazy, but it has happened to me. If nothing is blocking the filter, give it a quick clean since you have it out.
Next things to check:
Faulty diaphragm
Improperly adjusted fuel level
Clogged or loose main jet
Faulty fuel pump
You may not be able to check these on your own, but these are the next likely culprits.
Hope this helped

How to change spark plug on a V star 2002

Remove plastic covers from the heads (front on left side of bike, rear on right side). Use the spark plug wrench that came with the bike in the toolkit. You do not need to remove the seat.

Rear green lights are on...why?

Hi, Billy for this situation I would call my local dealer or reputable shop's service/parts department and inquire about any possible quick fix, answers, or parts inquiry. If necessary, transport your bike to the dealer or shop and have a professional technician take it for a test drive, if it is in running condition, and give you a written estimate of repairs and answer any specific questions you may have about your problem. My 2002 1100 v star classic does not run on the front cylinder, has spark, has compression, front cylinder stays cold. Back cylinder runs on spark, fuel, compression, no problem. Give any throttle and bike...

How good did you clean the carbs? The idle jets usually have small holes along the side, and if they are blocked with dirt or bad fuel, it won't idle. Make sure ALL of the passages are clear, and all jets are clear, through the center and holes in the sides of the pilot jets.

Why wont my yamaha 2002 v star **** into gear

Your bike has a bent shift fork judging by your discription. 9a177f5.gif If a fork is bent it will not move the slider gear properly.

2001 Yamaha V Star 1100A not charging battery

If you take a look at the parts microfiche (make sure this is your bike please), the voltage regulator and rectifier is a little under $70. Labor for installing it would probably be in the $200-300 dollar range at a dealer.

Have you checked the voltage while the bike is running? It could be that the lights are simply drawing more power than the charging system can put out. Put a voltmeter on the bike and start it. Rev engine to 2-4000 rpm (or just ride the bike if you can see the meter while riding). Check with extra lights off and extra lights on. If your voltage is 14+ while riding or reving the engine without the extra lights on I think your charging system is probably OK. If it is below 13 (again, without the extra lights on) I say the charging system is bad.

You might have a bad voltage regulator that killed the battery, how long did it run? Was it on a high idle(choked)?
