Rough running above idle

We have a 2003 GSA 1150 with 16,000km and when throttle is applied slightly off idle, motor runs very rough -basicly 'shakes it's head' .once through that 'zone, it appears to run ok.
Can some one suggest what check or adjustment I should be persuing.
Regards,
Bish.

It was food for thought, prompted me to check a few things. Turned out to be uneven adjustment in cables to throttle bodies.

What maintenance have you done? Changed the plugs, air filter, oil, and such? I would get some sort of fuel treatment to run through the gas tank and carbs. This should clear up any partial clog in the fuel system.

'87 Yamaha ProV 50: Will cold start and idle well. After a full throttle 1-2 min run will begin & continue running very rough near idle. Will die without addtl throttle imput.

Hi Roderick:
I'm not familiar with your engine configuration, but on some of the older bikes, vibration eventually can cause a wire to break in the coil. When the engine is cold, the wires make contact and it runs, but as soon as it gets hot, the connection is broken or compromised and the spark quits or drives you crazy.
Since your bike runs when cold and quits when hot, I'd be looking for electrical rather than fuel problems.
Hope this helps.

Motor wont stay idle need to keep pumping gas pedal to keep motor running.

If it smoothly idles down to shut off it could be the throttle stop screw needs to be ran out a little. If it runs rough it could be a stuck float or needle Lots of times a good soak and cleaning will fix a problem. don't use ethanol gas without some sort of conditioner.

Just changed the battery in 04 R1150 gsa. Now it runs very rough. What did I do wrong?

To change the battery, you have to remove the fuel tank. In doing so, you are disturbing the throttle cable on the RHS and pulling it out of its housing.

This is what it should look like.

Vstar 1100 idling rough and backfiring letting off the throttle

It sounds to me that your carbs might be a little gunked up - you mentioned the gas may have been old, so it's possible that the smaller (idle) jets are slightly plugged up. Fresh fuel might do the trick and/or you could try using a fuel system cleaner and water remover. This problem might 'solve itself' with a little time.

As far as the backfire - this might be either from the carb issue or it could be related to that rattle you mentioned - you could have a loose connection at or near the head - this can **** air and cause a backfire.

I hope this helped!

My bike runs rough idleing and at slow speeds. It

Check for intake leaks where the carburetor manufolds connect to the heads, when it is running at idle dpray WD40 around the area if the idle increases there is a intake leak.
reolace the gasket/gaskets,and since the carb will be off clean it or have a mechanic do it.

High Idle On Start-up.

Sounds like you have a intake leak. You're getting extra air into the mix until she fully warms up. Check where the throttle body meets the heads.
