Sounds like the starter is bad. if access to it easy for you then it can be removed and taken to your local repair shop and rebuilt. Or try locateing one on ebay.

2000 Harley Davidson FLHTCUI Electra Glide Ultra Classic replace starter drive

Hi, Bob the starter drive/Bendix/clutch is a mechanical gear driven component that engages the clutch pack ring gear to turn over the engine. It has an internal mechanism that allows the gear to turn in one direction and once the engine starts allows the drive gear to free spin. If gear free spins in both directions then the drive gear has failed, it is not serviceable and needs to be replaced.

I bought a 2002 electra glide . rode it for close to 5000 miles . starter sound like it wasnt engaging yesterday . now it will not start . have no juice to the radio and makes a short clicking sound

Have you checked the battery? Take it out and take it to an automotive parts store and ask them to load test the battery. If you have no power to the radio and the starter is only making a clicking sound, my first guess would be the battery.

Good luck

Seems battery (new) on 2006 Electra Glide Classic is draining. Bike won't start......starter sounds like a vaccuum cleaner, just whining. It's not the stator.....bike was charging on highway at 14+...

If you can hear your starter running and the engine is not turning over, the problem is your starter. Specifically, the "overrunning clutch" is bad in the starter. If you are mechanically inclined and have the tools to take the starter off your bike, you can repair this yourself and save some money. If not, you'd be better just to have the shop replace the entire starter. The time involved in disassembling the starter, replacing the clutch, and reassembly will eat up any savings you had recognized by repairing the starter.

Good Luck

2000 Harley electra glide - Tap the starter relay and the radio goes out?

The power for several other things on your bike passes through the starter relay as well. If this is happening, you probably need to replace the relay. Check the plug and it's connectors as well.

Good Luck

My 1999 eletric glide classic wont start, no the starter wont engage, checked all connections now what

did you apply 12 volts directly to the starter bypassing all the other wiring? If not try that, that will tell you it's in the wiring. You did not mention if the starter spins up or not.
