Question about 2004 Suzuki VL 800 Volusia

'04 volusia still shutting down

The bike is carburated, 41k. miles, shuts off after running or idleing for a few minutes. sometimes 10 min or one day i was able to ride for 45 min. after shutting down it won't immediatly start back up. i have to wait 20 or 30 min then it starts with no problems. i've already emptied and cleaned out the tank and lines, also i added an inline fuel filter and can see fuel flowing through. i've always used premium gas. same problem persists.

I would recomend checking to be sure the fuel and vacum lines n the tank are installed correctly, Open the fuel filler and start the bike and see if it has any change on the problem, if so you have a vacum issue.

Dryer runs for 10 mins and shuts off.

Your dryer motor has a thermal overload built in to it. If your symptom is shutting down allow to cool and it works again for a few minutes the shuts down again.

I am looking to buy my first bike and i am wonder is 28000 miles on a 2003 volusia is considered alot and how many miles do bike usual run for

depends on maker-german n italian rides r produced well--there r many companies thru out the world n much info available--air cooled engines wear out faster then liquid--always warm a bike up 1st n after a trip cool it down by ridin it slow-dont just shut it down-that helps alot--make sure proper oil is present-no ther not as long lived as cars

02 honda crv after warming up it shuts down at a stop

Here is the most common cause of surges and stalls and low idle, it is the idle speed control air-bypass valve and throttle valve, they get full of gunk over the miles and cause idle issues (stalls) like yours, Get a can of intake cleaner from any local parts store, not carb spray, intake cleaner, it is made by a company called CRC, remove the air intake hose to the engine, hold the idle high so the engine won't stall, then spray the can of cleaner into the intake while keeping the engine running, use at least 1/2 the can, shut down the engine and disconnect the battery for 5 minutes, then restart and complete a number of mixed driving cycles, town, freeway, stop and go etc., after a few days the problem will go away as the system will relearn to the clean intake.

Cooling Fan Acting Up

in that it doesn't run like it used to hasn't started up while riding in 95 degree days and after I shut off the bike it may or may not start and sometimes starts a few minutes after I shut it down, at which time it sounds like it is struggling for a few seconds.  The blades spin freely when I spin them manually, and I can't find any troubleshooting procedures in the manual. ,Check the fuse and the temp sensor.,,,
