Brake light switch

Hi Jake, always check fuses and bulbs first for broken filaments. Then check the connection at the rear fender wiring harness, inspect for corroded, broken or loose pins. Use a dab of dielectric grease and repair as necessary. Check your brake relay if you have one , check your brake light switches for continuity, some models rear turn signals were single filament bulbs only, no running light. If all else fails get out your test light and start tracking the power wire from the harness connection. For a free wiring diagram please visit the website below and good luck:

Break light out, tail is ok. New bulb put in. What can we check.

Hi, as the tail light gets its supply from the ignition switch, it sounds like you have an issue with either a bad earth on the rear light or a break in the wireing from under the seat to the light, lift the seat, pull apart the loom that feeds the rear light, you will have a green, (earth) and a brown = rear tail light, and green/ red brake light, as the tail light is working you can use the rear lite supply to check the circuit from the connection to the light. ,under the seat disconnect the brown, and the green/red and plug them together in reverse, now if the system is ok the rear light opperation, will light up the brighter fillement of the bulb and the rear light will look brighter than previouse, if it does noy light, then the problem lies in the wire from that point to the light, if it does light return the wireing back to normal, find the rear brake switch, separate the two wires on the loom end plug both of the wires togeter without the switch, if the light works then the switch must be replaced, good luck, paul

Wiring for break lights, bulb is fine, no break light

Does the front break work the break light or not that either?
If it doesn't then there is a break in the feed. If it does then the break pressure switch is faulty or the wires to it are broken.
Use a lamp as a test lamp. Connect flex to the bulb and you can follow the wire to the break.
Hope that helps.

When i press on the rear break, the break light does not come on. break light will come on with the front brake engaged. have checked the bulbs.

The rear brake has a pressure switch that turns the rear brake light on and off. If it's working correctly with the front brake, this switch is the first place I'd go to. Make sure the wires a firmly plugged onto it.

You can find the switch by following the metal line that comes out of the rear of the rear brake mastercylinder. It'll have two wires connected to it.

Replaced indicator bulbs one side still dont work

Check your fusebox. you most likely have a short (normaly having the wires the wrong way round) and that is the cause bulb and fues to blow. If it happened when you sat down, you most likely have a pinched cable that is earthing.

The clicking sound is your flasher unit working, so the problem exists between the flasher unit and the indicator.

Brake lights

The taillight should be on at all times. The brakelight should come on when the front or rear brakes are applied. Start by disconnecting the front brake light switch then the rear to see which switch is broken. Also check the bulbs. I have seen them short out internally. The filament inside the bulb break and contacts the other circuit.
