Damage like that could cause many different problems, but if everything else works fine, the only real cause could be the generator itself, or the voltage regulator on it. The regulator should be easy to replace, but if it's the genny, you'll need to fork out for a new one and replace that. Hope that helps!

Check that the exhaust wasn't damaged in the crash. The exhaust on modern restricted motorbikes is a big part of the correct running of the engine. It could also be the induction system rubbers, If it is not fitted properly the extra air into the engine will change the power characteristics.

Engine management light on as soon as it starts speedo not working would that make it flash ??? checked all other oils any idears to ceck something

Hi, Darylr125, it should be noted that the reasons your EFI light stays on constantly or flashes and your bike will or will not start and may turn over or not, these conditions will vary from bike to bike depending on the year, make, and model and you should always refer to your owners/service manual for proper diagnostic procedures. It should also be noted that any type of prior work done to the bike or an abnormal event occurrence IE: adding accessories, electrical curiosity/adventures, laying bike down/crashes, rainstorms/bike washings just before EFI light issues started can be significant hints/aids into tracking down the gremlin, also carry the appropriate jumper wire to access fault codes to reduce the risk of being stranded or towed, that being said the usual suspects are:
1. Faulty Fuel Pump, fuse or system relay switch.
2. Battery starting to fail due to old age/damage, perform a load test.
3. Discharged battery, check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Faulty switches/sensors: run/off, ignition, clutch lever, neutral, side stand, tip over, fuel, and or their connections.
5. Broken wire or worn insulation exposing wire to a ground situation especially inside wire harness at tight bends around fairing brackets, under dash panels, under fuel tanks over cylinder heads etc. Many harnesses are open on the ends that will allow water to enter and accumulate at v-bends.
Dielectric grease and contact cleaner are your best friends for wire/cable/harness connectors, look for corroded, broken, or loose pins/sockets. For more information about your issue please click on the links below. Good luck and have a nice day.

I crashed my bike on the clutch side and now it still gets power to the lights but wont start

if you mean the bike went down on its left side ie the clutch lever side then i would check the safety switch on the clutch lever this has most likely been damaged.

I took a spill on my 09 ktm 125 sx and now the bike idles high enough to ride without using the throttle. Also the throttle is harder to turn while the bike is running. Any ideas what to do?

Check the throttle assembly for dirt or damage, and the tube where it turns on the bar. The bars may be bent, also check for damage to the cable, it may have jammed somewhere or stretched during the crash

As soon as i put the bike in gear it stalls with

This problem should be re-tagged gv650.

It's not your clutch, it's the kickstand killswitch. I had the same issue.

If you look down next to your kickstand on the left hand side you'll see a silver switch (looks like a mushroom), follow the cables up to the front end of the chasis near the sump and you'll find a black connector with two wires coming out of it. You can either bypass the connector using a piece of wire or just do what I did and clip the wires, wind them together and crimp them in a connector.

Start your bike and hey presto - problem solved.

Hope this helps.

My friend layed my bike out/ electric start wont do anything.

the problem may be in the starter silinoid. if it is on the starter you are going to need a new one but if it is not then get the replacment. have it checked first. you can do that at auto zone for free.

remove the front number plate and inspect the cdi box, look 4 damage 2 the case then check wiring connectors-should a 4wire and a 6wire block.also check LH engine casing 4 damage (gear lever can smash it if u crash) this is where the stator coil is-which is the power source 4 the ignition system. hope this helps.good luck.

Clutch question

but here's my question. I have a alp.4 that I crashed. After the crash the bike would start but when put in to gear it immediately stalled and died. I took it to a mechanic and they said it was a simple adjustment that needed to be made so they did it charged me for an hour of labor and sent me home. When I got home the clutch worked again, but after a few times taking the battery in and out to charge it, the clutch problem is happening again. Does anyone know what the problem is exactly and how I might be able to solve it? The mechanics and some friends of mine have both said it's a simple adjustment, but I don't know what to do. Thanks.,When you put it in gear and it dies, is the sidestand still down? This will kill most bikes..... saftey features Wink . Even if the stand is up when this happens, the switch that activates this shut-off my be playing up and causeing the bike to die. Does the idle seem to be set very low now?,,,
