Question about 1991 Suzuki DR 350 S

1 Answer

I have a DR250s suzuki with no spark.

I need a test procedure to test the magneto & ignition module. A wiring diagram would be very helpful. I have no power at the coil.

I have the same problem. When I turn on the ignition and kick start, I get one spark, then no more. I tried the coil on my scooter and I get repeated spark.
I have power to the CDI box, and an AC signal coming from the pick-up coil. However I have 295ohms at the pick-up coil. I can't find a spec for this.

    Amir

    Mine is a 91 DR250S

Hi, John and the usual suspects are:
1. Fouled spark plugs.
2. Severely discharged or a damaged battery, should have 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a load test if necessary.
3. Check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Loose connection at ignition coil or plug between ignition sensor and module.
5. Spark plug cables in bad condition, shorting / leaking, spark plug cable connections loose check for spark leakage in the dark.
6. Faulty ignition coil or electronic control module.
7. Faulty CKP, CMP, or BAS sensor.
8. Faulty ignition switch.
9. Tilt sensor needs a reset.
10. Security alarm failing to disarm needs reset

1984 HONDA XR500R NO SPARK. NEED WIRING DIAGRAM.

Mike could be a few things for no spark on your bike, blown fuse if applicable, short in ignitions wiring, bad switch, CDI module, pulse generator, coil, plug, plug wire, etc. You may have to get yourself a good manual, DVOM and start checking. Check the attached links, instruction and guides, Good luck

I have a 82 gs550l if i charge the battery and then ride it the battery wont stay charged and when the headlight is on it drains the battery even faster

You have either a rectifier or charging coil(magneto) issue. The rectifier changes the AC pulse from the magneto to 12V DC. If that checks out, you'll need to test the magneto. Either case you'll need to have a multimeter handy and access to the factory repair manual for the testing parameters and wiring diagrams. Good luck!

I just acquired a 1969 benelli buzzer and it doesn't have spark so I am trying to figure out the wiring from the magneto to the coil. I also don't know what the fuel mix ratio is for the bike...

Hi, Cole_bliven if you have a CKP sensor it needs compression to send the correct signal to the ICM/ECM, make sure both spark plugs are in heads and use a grounded third plug to check for spark or hold spark plug cable close to spark plug in the head. If still not getting spark the usual suspects are:
1. Fouled spark plugs.
2. Discharged battery, check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
3. Loose connection at ignition coil or plug between ignition sensor and module.
4. Spark plug cables in bad condition, shorting / leaking, spark plug cable connections loose.
5. Faulty ignition coil or ignition / electronic module
6. Failed CKP, CMP, or BAS sensor.
7. Faulty ignition switch.
8. Security alarm failing to disarm needs reset

No spark on 1971 suzuki ts 125

Hi and welcome to FixYa,

Initially, check for pulsating voltage on the black/yellow wire from the magneto to the ignition coil. Additionally, temporarily disconnect the black/yellow wire to the ignition switch.

Perhaps a wiring diagram would be of additional help.

Good luck and thank you for asking FixYa.
