I have a 1983 Yamaha XJ900 that needs the carbies overhauled. Know where I can get some repair kits and the price? Thanks for your help. Peter.

I would check with a parts unlimited dealer or dynojet for repair parts for this bike.

XJ900 1983 tank removed and there are 4 hoses to connect. Where?


I could not find a parts diagram for a 93 XJ900 but I found one for a 750. All I could see was 2 hoses going to the fuel petcock. Not sure if the petcock is vacuum controlled, but the second hose might go to one of intake manifolds. This feature stops fuel from flowing when the engine is off. On California bikes it may also have a hose going to some charcoal canister(s) for capturing fuel vapor. On some tank designs their is also a hose that allows excess fuel at the filler cap to spill to the ground instead of spilling all over your tank.

1994 Yamaha diversion 900 cuts out after idle revs


Hi, Anonymous and the usual suspects are:
1. Idle circuit and transfer ports clogged.
2. Air fuel mixture adjustment too lean.
3. Pilot jet clogged.
4. Faulty accelerator pump.
5. Float level too low.
6. Float bowl contaminated old fuel, water, dirt, rust, etc.
7. Float bowl vent or overflow tube clogged.
8. Fuel flow to carburetor restricted.
9. Intake manifold leak.
10. The gas cap is not venting properly or fuel tank venting system blocked.
11. Vacuum line from intake manifold to petcock broken, cracked, or not attached, carburetor vent line plugged.
12. Needle and seat stuck closed in the float bowl.
13. Multi carburetors not in sync

Carbi keeps flooding started fine and rode for 10 mins then cut and wont start unless i drain the carbi and turn petrol of then starts for around 10 seconds then cuts out its a peewee 50 2010 model


the float inside the carb is probably stuck in the open position...you may need to remove the carb and have an overhaul kit installed in it....if you stored the unit without draining the fuel from the tank AND the carb, then the fuel probably went bad and has become "varnished". This fuel degradation can cause the float to stick and clog up the main and idle jets

Hi i have purchased a yamaha xvs 650 vstar classic 2003 model fitted with BUB exhaust pipes and i am getting poping and back fireing when decellarating and have been told the carby may need rejetting,could...


If the mechanic did not replace the exhaust pipe gaskets in the head or on any connections between the head pipes and the mufflers , the air leaks could be igniting unburned fuel in the exhaust , causing the popping and back firing. Try replacing any gaskets in the exhaust system.
If you have a flat spot or hesitation when accelerating than you probably also need to rejet the carburetors. Bigger main jets should fix that condition. A jet kit may also contain differently tapered needles for the slides to help compensate for the change in the acceleration curve.

Exhaust fittings for my xj650


as the main difference is the bore/stroke of engine.so the hight of the exhaust ports may be a bit higher so pipes may be a bit snug to the frame

Missing Fuel Lines


the 2 spigots between the 1st & 2nd carbs are for the 2 vent hoses.the 4 skinny hoses on the bottom of each carb. are for carb. bowl overflow.
