I don't suppose there's any way you could have reversed the plug leads. I did this on a 4-cyl once and had a similar experience to yours.

dont think so.each plug has seperate coil on each side. unless there is another way the firing could be crossed.

SOURCE: 24 hp briggs intek vtwin won't start

This same thing happens to me and I resolve it by taking the gas line off in front of the carb and blowing air through it.....then it will run fine. I realized I could do this when I took the air cleaner off and fed it gas manually and it ran fine....and I also had gas pumping through the fuel pump. I'm not sure of the problem....either the fuel pump is losing power or their is something blocking the carburator intermitantly

Leo, try removing the fuel bowl first and checking to see if the needle valve and float are working correctly.

Typically, whenever the fuel system has been "shellaced", the small port that lets fuel flow from the bowl into the carb, gets clogged. You can check this by removing the center nut on the bowl to drop it down. (turn off the fuel valve 1st) and be careful not to let the needle valve and spring retainer fall off the float.

Once you've done that, you can spray some Carb & Injector cleaner thru this port and use a small pipe cleaner to make sure the hole isn't clogged. Also, check the float to see if it's got any gas in it. If it does, you'll need to replace the float, as it shouldn't have anything but air in it, hence the term "float".

You should be able to get the carb working fine after doing the above, since you can get the engine running by spraying cleaner (starting fluid?) into the carb.

Here's a link to the B&S site where you can get info on your particular engine by using the model number stamped on the engine itself.

SOURCE: lawn mower will not start

check gas tank with light is there dirt in tank? did you change fuel filter? is there spark at the spark plug? try a 2 second spurt of starting fluid in carburetor and crank does it fire?if it does then you most likely need to clean carburetor with carburetor cleaning spray, flush fuel lines with spray and swap fuel filter.

Need help with Poulan leaf blower that will not start.

Well you certainly have tried a great deal of things, your compression is fairly low, however I would expect it to fire all be it not run too well, initially I would suspect a couple of things, a massive air leak i.e. crankshaft seal leaking or has fallen out, or the flywheel key in the flywheel has sheared knocking the ignition timing way out.

1993 honda acord wont start there is fuel going to the intake but wont start and if i tried to put fuel directly in the intake tried to start to wath can i do ???

Did you check the spark? Pull a plug and reconnect it to the wire and lay it on a piece of metal away from the piston hole, (flame thrower) And click it over to see if it sparks. If no spark, you have a bad coil or coil pack. You should be able to find one in a junk yard, don't go out and buy a new one, it could be something else. Like low oil, fuel pump, ignitor, etc. If it sparks, squirt a little fuel into the spark plug hole and fire it up and see if it fires that way. Have to narrow this down to something. Check it out, hope this helps.

Husqvarna 51 died and wont restart

hi
if you have a good compression,a strong enough blue spark and carburetion for the fuel air mixture try priming the engine(put small amount of gas in the spark plug hole)then start the engine. If the engine runs only the gas you put inside the cilinder there is a carburetion problem to find and fix.
let me know regards savumihai71

Buy some starting fluid and spray some in the carb or air cleaner intake port, if the machine is flooding do not choke while using the starting fluid, make sure you do not have too much oil in the mowwer.

Put new carb on 86 cr 80 ran fine 4 10 minutes then quit changed spark plug and gas still nothing. has spark dont know how hot also changed manifold appeared to be dry rotting still nothing. even attemped...

for any motorcycle to run you need three things. spark, fuel and compression. i see you've tried to get fuel and spark. if you have spark thats one down. dont pour fuel into cylinder. instead spray tiny bit of brakeclean or carb clean into spark plug hole. i have a feeling if you drained your gas after the carb clean the carb most likely sucked bad gas back up and might need cleaned again. ive seen it happen alot on ols bikes.

Are you adding oil to the gas? (32/1 = 4 ounces per gallon)
Do you still have spark? Install a new stock spark plug.
Clean the carb, but follow these steps >

Remove the carburetor from the engine.
Remove the float bowl and clean the entire carb with a spray carb cleaner from the auto parts store. Wear protective goggles to avoid getting spray in your eyes. Spray into all the little airways and fittings in the carb. Remove the two screws on the outside throat of the carb and spray into the screw holes as well.
< < READ CLOSELY > >
Be sure to put these two screws back in the same hole they came out of. IMPORTANT > do not tighten these two screws down. Only screw these in until they LIGHTLY seat. Now turn each screw one and one half turns outward. Put the rest of the carb back together, clean the air filter and install the carb. Let the float bowl fill then start the engine. Let the bike warm up then set the idle speed. This process should get you back on the road.
