Oil light on and beeping keeps sounding. i checked all fluid levels and they are fine. engine now makes a grinding sounds. any ideas?

The light and beeping would come on intermittently (especially when i was stopped in traffic) but now they are on constantly. i checked the oil level, the transmission fluid level and even the power steering fluid level. the temp is normal. today the engine sounds like a diesel engine...kinda rough and sounds like it's grinding.

SOURCE: 2001 Dodge Caravan check engine light on- no owner's manual

Take the van to an autoparts store and have them scan the computer for fault codes stored. The check engine light comes on to alert you that the computer has noted a fault in one of the van's systems. Getting the codes will show what faults the computer has noted. Most parts stores will do the scan for free. Hope this helped and best wishes.

it is most definitely the oil pressure sender!

standing in front of your car, look behind your engine from above, below the head and screwed into the block on the right side is the sensor.

SOURCE: I have a 2000 dodge caravan. When the engine is

Sounds like there is a problem with the Torque converter in the transmission or Transmission itself. When you put it in gear it should initially go into neutral but occasionally the transmission will stick part way in gear and partially in neutral putting a load on the motor. It is not enough of a load to get the vehicle moving but it is enough to stall the motor. This could be a simple clutch adjustment in the Automatic clutch to a PCV valve issue to a need to rebuild the whole transmission because of a problem with the control body or transmission pump itself. Sorry for the bad news.

doesn't sound good
when was it last serviced
check the engine oil level
the engine light or CEL light or low oil light should be on
best get it to a workshop for closer inspection
if the engine has no problem
closer inspection required
the noise could be clutch gearbox or brakes

2004 Passat stop engine low oil pressure light was on checked oil..level is fine. Sounds like lifters clacking. Any ideas what could b going on

You have low oil pressure ! Do not drive ! Sounds like the engine main bearings and or cam bearing in worn causing low oil pressure ! Make sure your oil is in good condition ! If so then unfortunately your engine is worn and will probably require replacement !

A kind of grinding sound when turning and some leaking oil

Power steering grinding noise can be ok, or it could be pump wear. The only way to tell is if the power steering oil looks sort of metalic, from tiny bits of metal in it.

And by the way, power steering oil is red, so easy to distinguish from engine oil. But a few leaks are ok as long as you can keep the level up.

As long as you keep the fluids up, you can wait until it gets worse. A bad pump will get very noisy, and there is no reason to change it before then. The metal won't hurt anything.

Lubricant may not resolve it sounds like it could be your water pump froze up. Look to see if it is turning. Even if it turns it still could be bad.Usally the first sign of it going bad. Stop by your local auto parts store to see if they agree.

Hey guys: My 91 MPV sat for 6 weeks recently...Before I parked it, it was running fine...Yesterday when I put it back on the road the tranny was making a whirring sound but was working fine....I drove for...

Hello. Sorry to hear you are having this trouble. From what I hear it sounds like your automatic transaxle may be low on fluid, or the fluid has been getting too old and overheated (as any will over time). Please look for signs of any tranny fluid leaks on the ground and under the van. If it does you will need to fix the leak, and/or keep up with fluid loss all the time until you do.

Please check your automatic transaxle (tranny) fluid level with the dipstick under the hood. See if the fluid looks pink and clean. If the fluid or dipstick is dark or brown looking at all, it needs replaced. Get the fluid professionally flushed and changed. This step alone may fix your van as long as the fluid is not leaking, and too much old fluid use (hopefully) has not already damaged the tranny.
