You have three yellow wires coming from the stator, which are the three phases of the alternator, just weld these three yellow wires to the three yellow wires that go to the bike R / R. The order does not matter because it is a three-phase system. Just be well isolated from each other.

Trace your wires coming into the batery from your stator if the wires arent grounded than i would think that you could hook them up and they would charge but i think you have a ground coming off the stator that has to be hooked up look up wiring schematics for your stator to the battery and go from there

I have a 95 honda shadow vt 600 it runs but its missing on the front cylinder any suggestions it has new plugs new fuel filter and fuel battery is about 2 years old but will run the bike

Try new spark plug caps. The resisters often burn out and cause poor running off idle. On some models the caps are part of the wire and are replaced as an assembly out of the coil. To save money use genuine NGK spark plug caps (about $5 each). They simply screw on to the end of the wire. If the cap reads higher or lower than 5000 OHM's it should be replaced. The copper core spark plug wire can be purchased in bulk for $1 to $2 a foot. It can be cut to length and used as an inexpensive replacement for the stock Honda wire/cap assemblies that sell for $25 to $45 each.

2002 honda 1100cc shadow sabre What is the purpuse of the rectifier? Bike runs great for thirty miles on charged battery then quits. While running disc pos. lea to battery an bike quits. should it still...

On motorcycles the regulator/rectifier are usually one unit. The voltage regulator takes the juice coming from the alternator and converts it , usually from a higher voltage, to 12 volts. The rectifier takes any extra power left over from the conversion and dissipates it in the form of heat. Honda motorcycles draw power from the battery to run everything on the motorcycle. When you disconnect the battery it is like turning off the key. If your battery is not charging check the alternator first. Find the plug coming out of the engine with three yellow wires. You should have continuity between any combination of these three wires. You should have no continuity between any of these three wires and ground. If If you get no continuity between any of the yellow wires or you get continuity between a yellow wire and ground , you need a new alternator. If the alternator checks good and the battery passes a load test, then you probably need a new regulator/rectifier.

2000 shadow. brand new battery but it won't stay charged. bike starts and runs well otherwise. 600 cc shadow

Locate the wires coming out of the motor. There is a plug with three yellow wires, check the three yellow wires coming out of the motor for continuity. Any combination of the three yellow wires should have continuity. But there should be NO continuity between any of the three wires and ground. If any of the yellow wires are grounded you have a bad stator. If the stator checks good you probably have a bad voltage regulator/rectifier.

No spark on honda superdream 250 good battery ,changed cdi unit. got new coil but wireing isnt the same so not fitted yet

I TAKE IT YOU HAVE CHECKED THE CONDITION OF THE PINOUTS FROM THE ALTERNATOR, THE EARLY SUPERDREAM SUFFERED WITH ALTERNATOR PROBLEMS,IE BURNING OUT/ THE CHAIN WOULD ALSO CUT THROUGH THE WIRE FROM THE ALTERNATOR. AND THE WIRE PINS IN THE BLOCK CONECTORS WOULD ALSO CORODE AWAY. MOST LIKELY FAILURE OF ALTERNATOR MOST COMMON, THERE IS A CHECK YOU CAN DO TO ELIMINATE IT, CHECK THE OBVIOUS FIRST

I have a 1981 GL 1100 and the bateery is not charging. The battery is new so I'm thinking alternator problems. Is this a hard fix?

To test the alternator locate the plug with three yellow wires that comes out of the back of the motor. With a voltage meter, check for continuity between all three yellow wires , any combination. You should have no continuity between any of the yellow wires and ground. That is how you test the alternator.
To replace the alternator you have to unbolt the engine and remove it or at least rotate it in place enough to take the rear cover off. Yes, this is a real pain in the bottom to fix. If you are patient and meticulous you can do this job yourself . A furniture dolly works good for rolling and rotating the motor around. A floor jack and a couple of buddy's one on each side of the motor helps too.

My battery is draining fast on a full charge. Will start and ride for a little then will stall and not turn on again. I have checked wires and the batterie is good. What could be draining the battery...

It sounds like your bike is not charging. The headlight is draining the power. Locate the plug coming out of the motor that has three yellow wires. This is the alternator output. Check with a voltage meter. You should have continuity between all three yellow wires and no continuity between any of the three wires and ground. If the alternator checks OK then you probably need a new regulator/rectifier.
