Electric screen will not go up

Can someone please explain how it works. It goes down but will not go up. I had the problem about 12 months ago but it cured itself. Are there two sensors one for each direction, if so whereabouts are they and what do I need to remove to check them

It is the same motor that makes it go up and down, it appears that the switch is your problem, take the switch apart and check that the contacts for both up and down are clean and making good contact when the switch is pushed...a wire may have worked itself off.....

My yamaha cygnus battery needs recharging everyday I have replaced the battery for the 3rd time in 6 months without success.Everything else seems to work just the battery issue any suggestions please

take it to a yamaha service center and have them check the voltage output of the charger system
if it chargers more than the 14.5 volts for a 12 volt battery or more than 8 volts for a 6 volt battery , that will explain the causes of rapid battery failure

Its either not getting fuel, poss blocked mainjet, or float needle valve, do you have a constant flow of fuel from the tank, is the bike smoking exsessivly, sounding quieter than it used to do? Maybe the exhaust has become blocked, this was a common factor on this bike, remove exhaust look up exhaust port towards piston, with the piston at the top clean the port with a sharp object scrapeing away all the unburned carbon, start bike up without exhaust and check how it runs,

No problem Barry. The head is held on by five bolts. The most important thing is to get a wrench or socket that fits onto the heads of the bolts properly. I've seen too many people round these bolts off by using a wrench that will not get onto the bolt heads properly. The bolts that I'm talking about have 9/16" heads on them. They make some High Performance bolts that have 12 point 7/16" heads on them that are much better.

I agree that it sounds like you've blown a head gasket. The oil comes from a drain back hole that runs from the head down throught a passage in the cylinder to the eventually come out into the crankcase. If the head gasket is not sealing properly, when the piston goes down on the intake stroke, it will **** the oil into the cylinder.

Hopefully, you haven't damaged a piston. It is never a good idea to try to force the engine to run properly. I've cleared a partially fouled plug by turning the engine at moderately higher RPM. But, it it happens repeatedly, I start looking for the problem.

I'll be glad to help you, Shovelheads are my specialty. I'm restoring a '69 FLH right now. Contact me directly at

No spark left in the ole 96

Have you cleaned the carbs? If fuel is left sitting in them for 4 months it could gel up and block them. If your leaving it for that long its a good idea to drain the fluids before putting her away.

Electrics not working

First check the dynamo outlet for current for that take one electric holder with D.C bulb(12 volt) in it and check whether the dynamo is generating the current or not.If it is O.K then check every cable subsequently using electric holder and
bulb(12 volt).
and if the dynamo is not working them you need to change the coils of the dynamo.
