I have the same model year as yours, but that does not really matter. If you go to the back of your Haynes manual, the wiring color codes are spelled out for you specific to your car, It is possible that a new or rebuilt starter can be stuck (clearances on starter gear/and shaft) or that you somehow bolted it in slightly askew and it is stuck or cannot move properly. Spot check the ring gear teeth by looking through the starter hole to see if they are o.k. and that the gear on the starter seems correct.  Also, look around and check and make sure the ground strap is good (motor to body) or any ground for that matter Sometimes, if a motor or starter motor is in a locked rotor condition this will cause a heat rise. It might be a good idea to remove it and energize it with jumper cables from the battery-- (a bench test) to verify actuation. (spin)  Then wipe the grease of the leads (so you can read your color code) and carefully connect them to the terminals as the wiring diagram tells you in the Haynes manual.

2006 Lincoln Navigator. Fuse # 5 blowing up every time.

Did you check the wiring behind the fuse box and further back from there? There could be a damaged wire you've missed that's creating an electrical 'short' tripping that particular fuse.
Some electrical features on a vehicle share a fuse to keep the size of the fuse box smaller. That will probably be the reason the other problems are there.

Brack lights wont light up on my 1988 ford ranger we keep blowing fuse and put in new brake switch

If you keep blowing the brake fuse than you have a short in the system. Unplug the brake switch. Install a new fuse. If it did not blow than the problem is after the brake switch. Next unplug the turn signal switch, then plug the stop light switch back in and press the brake pedal. Did the fuse blow. If not than the wiring is good in between the two switches. With the turn signal switch disconnected use a jumper wire in between the light green wire (power from the brake switch) and the orange with light blue wire (power to the right brake lamp). If the fuse blows than there is a short in the right side brake circuit between the plug in and the rear socket assembly. If the fuse does not blow than jump from the light green wire to the Light green with orange wire (power to the left brake lamp). If the fuse blows than the problem is in the left hand brake wiring circuit.

I have a 98 grand prix an I was wondering how to install it.. I have a harness that came with it but my factory harness won't fit. I was wondering if j have to rewire the factory harness to my JVC...

You need to go to your local "best buy" or electronics store and ask them for your car's "stereo wire harness". This will convert the wires from your car to match all the colors from your deck. (green, purple, white, gray, blue, yellow, red, ect. Same on all after market decks. All brands use the same wires) Take that new harness and your deck harness, twist the matching wire colors together, tape them with electrical tape, plug the harness back into the car and deck, and it should be good. Click, click, done. Remember to plug the antenna in as well before you get the deck in.

2004 wipers keep blowing fuses chevy caviler

Either the wiper motor or the wires going to it are shorting out. First unplug the wiper motor replace the fuse try the wipers again if the fuse blows again then check the wire loom for a bare wire Check the colour of the wires at the plug on the motor. The most likely place for the wires to short out are at the switch. It may be an easier job to rewire ther wipers as there is a lot of wires in the loom. If you need to know how to rewire it get back to me and I will guide you through it

2004 Landrover Freelander stop/reverse light fuse keeps blowing

I had a persistent problem of hill light warning and TCS warning lights coming on for no apparent reason. There is a wire connection between the stop light switch and the control unit to let the system know when brakes are being applied. Changing the stop light switch cured it. The replaced switch was certainly sticking and the new one was of a different design. Replaced it myself as switch comes with a wiring loom. Need to get on your back under the steering wheel! Not very expensive. My car 2001 TD4
