SOURCE: crack in my yz 125 2001 crank case

You know aluminum can be welded very successfully now, so best bet is to remove that case and take it in to a good welder..You can ry the quick fix (JB Weld) is what i recommend, but success is rare !....good luck to you my friend...Tim

SOURCE: 2006 Yamaha TTR 50E pouring oil out of air cleaner housing

With the oil problem I read on another site that Yamaha did that so that excess oil would be burned up in normal running (but this was usually smaller amounts). Anyways they disconnected the tube going to the air cleaner and had tied up in such a way that any excess oil would land on the chain thus lubricating it. But if you have that much oil coming out it could be that you have put in too much.

SOURCE: bike will not start or stay running on a full

sounds like the problem is your battery is not charging when you are riding. The most common cause is a faulty regulator / rectifier. Contact a motorcycle wreckers for these parts, or your yamaha dealer.
Easy way to test is, when your bike is running, and the lights start to dim, before the bike shuts down, using a volt meter, test the voltage at the battery terminals, should be about 14V. If faulty rectifier,no charge going in to your battery, then the reading will be low, about only a few volts. If you dont have a volt meter, then any mechanic shop can do this test for you. best to have this done before buying any parts.

I have 97 custom fxsts S&S cases I tried to start it and all the oil ran from a rubber hose under the frame appears to be a vent

The engine "sumped". This means the oil drained from the oil tank into the engine crankcase. The hose is the crankcase vent. Start the bike with a pan under it to catch the oil coming from the vent hose. Run the bike to operating temp, then check the oil level. Top it off as needed.

Bike was running great then it started to studdering.brought it home looked at then noticed that the air box was full of gas and oil. why?

Some compression from the engine is getting past the rings and into the gearbox. With the compression comes some unburned fuel. The fuel mixes with the gearbox oil and increases the oil level in the gearbox. Now the "oil-gas" level is very close to the vent hose on the top of the gearbox. Remember that compression going into the gearbox? It now carries bits of oil-gas into the vent hose. Where does the vent hose vent to? The air box. The "low cost-getting by" remedy is to do an oil change, clean the air box, install a clean air filter and then do more frequent oil changes in the future. The proper fix is to do an expensive top end job on the engine. Please rate my answer. Thanks.

I HAVE A1976 SUPERGLIDE FXE AND HAVE EXCESSIVE OIL COMING OUT OF THE CRANK CASE VENT HOSE

There are a couple of reasons for that.
The simplest one is that it has been standing for a while and the oil tank has emptied into the crank case, causing increase pressure, in which case after a few minutes it should clear.
The diaphramme has stuck open and letting oil as well as vapour leave by the breather pipe.
The rings are badly worn and pressure is building up in the crank case.specialistel.jpg
It is not a good idea to route the pipe like the photo of a 1976 XLCH1000, it should flow down between the chain cover plate and the timing case.
Too much oil in the oil tank will also do that.

I hope it is the first cure and not the rings!

Oil blowing out of trans breather tube

hi 81 yamaha i am concerned about the fuel smell coming out with the oil. could be the carbs flooding filling your crankcase with fuel? if not it sounds like you have blow by which would cause your crank case to be slightly pressured. this is caused by worn piston rings. do not plug your crank vent. if you leave your vent open install small filter to stop dirt from entering jim
