94 accord, the speedometer doesn't work.........

I have a 94 accord and the speedometer works less than half the time. I replaced the sensor on the transmission, but i believe my problem is under the dash. Any suggestions on what ill be looking for when i get the instrument cluster out would be appreciated.

    I have the same problem! I'm going to try and take apart the dashboard tomorrow and see if I can spot anything wrong. Will keep you updated.

    I have the same problem. Replacing the speed sensor did not help. Now, I've been told it's the speedometer head. What is the ECU?

I had a similar problem a few months ago. I changed the speedometer sensor as well as the instrument cluster with no result. Finally I decided to take out my ECU. As soon as I took it apart, I noticed a burnt node. Replaced the ECU and the speedo worked fine. You might try this if tinkering with your cluster doesn't work.

I have a 1994 Honda Accord DX that has a speedometer problem. I replaced the speed sensor and that was not it. The speedometer works sometimes and then goes out. It has been doing this for three years. ...
We had the same problem with our 94 DX. It turned out to be a bad connection in the instrument cluster connector to harness connector . Try hitting the top of the dash while driving when the speedometer is not working and see if it starts to work while you're hitting the dash . If it does , you probably have the same problem we did . I pulled the instrument cluster and disconnected the harness and I bent the connector terminals with a small screwdriver so it would make a better connection . It worked .

The speedometer, odometer, and tac are not working. It has been determined it is not a sensor. All are working behind the scenes but not on the surface. What could possibly be the problem?
i have seen and replaced may accord 94-97 gauge clusters for problems like this. most common is the odometer stops working or works erratically. you should check ebay for a gauge cluster

Honda Accord EX 94 vss has been replaced, but still nothing work
If all the connection and power supplies to instrument cluster are ok,I suspect that the speedometer or instrument cluster is faulty but before you replace it, make sure the gear inside the transmission that drives the VSS is in good.

try resetting the trip meter. if that doesn't work you need to replace the speedometer head. i have seen this problem a lot especially when the 94 accord was new and replaced a few speedometer heads.
