Question about 2004 kawasaki ZX-10R

Engine revs to 4000rpm then back to tickover 3 to 4 more times without throttle being touched, while riding it will not rev through 5000rpm, below 5000 it is fine and above very exciting but is extremely hesitant, stuttering, and dies at this point but does not cut out, f1 light is on constantly but was intermitent, problem is getting worse as it will now not rev through 5 and 6000rpm

I have a 1998 Honda CBR 600 that goes flat on it's face at 6000 RPM and if you are lucky enough to push through the dead spot it will take off like a scalded ape again

the estimate was a little off (e300), the problem was two of the coil sticks breaking down, but i purchased all 4 anyway, at a cost of e450 euros including VAT, i have had to wait for them to be delivered and tried and teated before posting a remedy. a little expensive to buy for your cbr unless you have someone to let you try their coil sticks before purchasing any, if it cures your problem then you know for definate it is the coil sticks/stick

You may want to check your carbs. I had a similar problem and I found a broken jet in one of the carbs. Once that was replaced and the carbs were tuned the problem of the flat spot in the rpm was resolved.

find the bottom carb , see where the linkage from the remote cable moves the lever on the side of the engine then disconnect the cable from the remotes ! on the bottom carb there should be a screw to adjust the tickover where the linkage meets the carb linkage , turn it in 2 turns then with water attatched to water intake on gearbox turned on start the engine , it mite be slightly high or low pending ! set at 900rpm , rev engine several times back to tickover and if ok then refit throttle cable , cable should be pushing lever against its stop and then when you select forward gear it shouldnt move till you throttle up ! when in water start engine and select forward gear and tickover should be 7 to 800rpm and idle ok if not adjust till ok !

on the side of the carbs you will find the throttle linkage and on one of them there should be a screw that touches the linkage and this is where you screw in or out to adjust the tickover ! get engine running and see the linkage move and then hold the revs at 1000 rpm with your remote control box then adjust the screw so it just touches the linkage , pull back the remote lever to neuteral position and the revs should stay at 1000 rpm , then turn screw back so the rpm is at 800 rpm and the engine should then rev up and down and return to 800 rpm ! always run engine with water turned on at the hose flush attachment or in a tub of water or lake etc ! I have this problem with my K Reg Audi 80 1.9 tdi...Driving along say 50mph in traffic, take foot from throttle due to traffic flow, put foot back on throttle and nothing happens unless you either let...

you car is fitted with a "no fuel"system,so when you take your foot off "no fuel" goes to the engine untill it reaches 1200 revs.then it will allow fuel to flow to keep tickover/smoothness.(its computer controlled)you need to get your car onto the diagnostic computer,(skoda/seat/vw/audi)so you have the codes/items that need to be sorted. The tdi engine was one of the first engines that VW computerised and it is very reliable/powerful,compared to the peugeot/citroen engine.(briefly, the fault is not just a switch/cable),

Blackbird revs to five grand at tickover

Perhaps the throttle cable is jammed. Try running some oil down the cable and operating it several time (without the engine running).

Is there some dirt in the carburetor mechanism.

200 Pontiac Grand Am over 3500 RPM loss of power

on almost all gm cars after 96 the engines were governed to not free rev over 4000rpm. when in gear and power braking the rpms stay lower cause of the load on engine. when reving above 3500 rpms the computer cuts back the timing and fuel to reduce engine damage if left to free rev. hop that helps.

Revs whilst moving

I have seen this symptom with a broken motor mount. The engine torque lifts the engine and pulls on the throttle cable. When the engine comes to rest, all goes back to normal
