The bit that ingages the kick start is half way along the rear hand break cable.
you can push it with your hand and kick it over.
also try re tensioning you brake cable
this can be done at two pionts along the cable at the end or on the balance bar (10mm spanner required)
This needs to be adjusted as the pads wear down.

Hi, Randy and the usual suspects are:
1. Inlet system air leak.
2. Enrichener valve not seated or leaking.
3. Damaged or restricted fuel tank vent system.
4. Restricted fuel supply tract.
5. Dirty or damaged air cleaner element.
6. Plugged bowl vent or overflow.
7. Worn or damaged needle or needle jet.
8. Vacuum piston assembly malfunction.

Lambretta kickstart problems

There can be several reasons for this. If there is a lot of chattering noise from the kick start then there is a mechanical interference between the kick start teeth on first gear and the kick start plunger. If there is no noise but the kick start does not return check if there is enough pre-load on the kick start return spring or that the kick start arm is not catching on an external part of the engine such as the exhaust tail pipe. Either way, you'll end up taking the side case off so tip the scooter on it's L/H side so you don't have to change the gearbox oil but remember to put it all back together before standing the bike upright, else the oil will pour onto the floor.

1987 fc50 honda scooter wont turn over yet there is power

if it is electric start
you need a new starter solenoid
if it will not turn over on the kick start
then your engine is seized to solve the problem for this
remove you spark plug and put some thin oil down there and let it soak
for a day or two
remove the side casing and turn it over on the flywheel nut
until it is free
give it a few more turns and get the old oil out then
put your spark plug back in and start it

You have to remember that there are a few sets of gears that might be worn and you say that they do not appear to be worn have you tried to kick the bike while looking at the gears ( kicking the bike with out any spark plugs will make it easy to operate the leaver because there will be no compression in the motor) .

Suzuki 50 moped ran out of fuel

Hi, Dawn if you have an old bike that has not had regular fuel system maintenance and you run the fuel tank dry I feel your pain. All the contaminants water-dirt-rust-liner paint flakes-ethanol sludge etc. that lived in the bottom of your fuel tank get mixed with the last few oz. of fuel left in the tank and enter the fuel system clogging up fuel filters-fuel valves-fuel lines-carburetor jets-needle jets and seats-fuel injectors etc. You fill up your fuel tank and guess what your bike does not start or if it does it runs poorly, a complete cleaning of the fuel system is mandatory, the procedure is as follows:
1. Drain the fuel tank and inspect the inside for leftover uninvited guests decontaminate as necessary for rusty environments install a liquid fuel tank liner.
2. In tank fuel pumps with external filters need to be cleaned.
3. Fuel valves need to be rebuilt with a new gasket kit.
4. Fuel lines need to be inspected for integrity and replaced as necessary any inline fuel filter should be cleaned or replaced.
5. Carburetors need to be disassembled then "DIPPED" and soaked in a commercial carb cleaning solution Gunk sells 1/2 gallon pails with meshed screen baskets. Reassemble using new rebuild kits. Record all jet sizes and float level for fine-tuning.
6. Fuel injectors and fuel rails need to be properly cleaned and tested for optimum performance, if necessary send off any suspect injectors to "InjectorRx.com" for a modest fee they will refurbish the unit back to factory specs.

The starter was probably fine, but the solenoid's starter relay contacts may be welded together. Did the new starter include the solenoid? If you used the old one you may have kept the problem.

Another possibility is something is catching the starter gear fork where it pushes the gear to engage the teeth on the flywheel. Take a close look at the sheet metal cover in that area, and inspect the flywheel also.
