Question about 1979 Suzuki Gs 550 L

1 Answer

Won't start with ignition or kick start

Started out not wanting to start with the electronic ignition, but would start by using the kick start. Finally quit starting completely. Haven't used the bike in 15 years, but want to repair it and start using it again. What would have caused this problem.

I HAVE A CHINESE SCOOOTER THAT WONT START IT HAS NO BATTERY WILL IT WORK WITHOUT IT CAN IT BE KICK STARTED AND RUN WITHOUT NEEDING THE BATTERY

Hi, Montana and the usual suspects are:
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Discharged battery, needs to be 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a load test if necessary.
4. Check the battery terminals for damage or corrosion check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
5. Tip over sensor needs a reset.
6. Faulty ignition switch.
7. Faulty starter button.
8. Faulty kickstand or clutch pull in switch/sensor.
9. Starter control circuit, relay, or solenoid faulty.
10. Main fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or faulty.
11. Check for engine trouble codes.

The Fuel Pump Does Not Kick In When I Turn On The Ignition And The Engine Won`t Start

Most likely, your inertia switch has been tripped, either due to an accident or a sudden jolt to the vehicle.

Can an 87 fxrs be kick started?

I've never heard such a thing...

But you have to have a kick starter first and I don't recall 87's having one. Correct me if I'm wrong or if the trans has been changed out then yes you could have one. But I've never heard of Harley's starting on the second compression stroke. Plus the modern after market ignition systems used without kick start transmissions are the same ones used with custom scoots that have a modern trans with the old look of the kick starter... Although with these high compression engines, compression releases are common place because neither the starter or kick starter could crank one without...

Car wont start..after i stuck wet keys in ignition

Give the key-hole a few days to dry out. There are electronics inside the key-hole that sense the key's position and the immobilizer chip within the key. If these short out, or any other circuits with them, the car won't start/run properly.
