SOURCE: Valve specs for VT 500 honda shadow 1983

Hi,
Your valve clearances should be:
Intake .08-.12 mm (.003-.005 in)
Exhaust .12-.16 mm (.005-.006 in)
I usually start all gaps in the middle of given specs, then fine tune from there.
Hope this helps

Bastards! Valves will only get tighter on our bikes so there is that. If you are concerned call another honda shop 1-800 and get service department to listen to you

start by checking for fuel, and spark, if they are good, then turn the idle screw all the way in, slowley and dont force it, once you got it in all the way then turn it out 3 full turns, as this is a good rule for the idle on first start after a rebuild. if thats not working then check the engine for good compression, you'll need to contact the dealer and ask for a cyl compression spec. If thats the problem the engine will not start no matter how much you tweak it, it will have to be rebuilt. good luck

SOURCE: how do i set the valve clearances and points on my

I would consult and owners manual for procedure and correct gap setting..after finding the correct gaps, you would need to pull the valve cover , position the timing mark as described in owners manual then losen and adjust valves.

What are the valve lash specs for 2007 Honda Accord V6?

There is a specific procedure for setting valve clearance . I highly recommend getting a repair manual for the correct specs & procedure. The engine must be at TDC with the #1 cylinder on the compression stroke , that will allow you to adjust ONLY certain valves , then you have to turn the engine one turn to TDC again only now #1 will be on the exhaust stroke & the rest of the valves can be adjusted . it's important that you know the difference between the two !

My daughter had the timing belt break on my 1991 Honda Accord while driving on the freeway. What is the probability of valve damage? Should I just junk this car?

its hard to tell, sometimes they would..... but easy to check before hand, take the valve cover off and check valve clearance as if you were going to adjust the valves, if any valves have way too much clearance the valve is bent.. The valve spec is on a decal under the hood.
