Question about 2005 Honda CRF 250 R
2001 honda xr 250 smokes alot when it warms up runs ok and starts ok
To cure the problem a top end rebuild (bore job, valve job) is called for. Also the bottom end must be flushed several times with solvent then oil to remove the residual sludge that will make the problem repeat itself prematurely. Rings, pistons and cylinders on dirt machines wear out and get excessive clearances causing the oil smoke. I have never seen a "busted" oil ring on an XR.
