Hi Andrew, I'm sorry to hear that your fuel gauge isn't accurately reading your fuel level. I would think that looking into replacing the fuel pump module could be an option to fix this. I don't really know a lot about auto repair, but if you've tried other options already I'm sure you could find a replacement part online and try switching it out. http://www.abcoautomotive.comHi Andrew, I'm sorry to hear that your fuel gauge isn't accurately reading your fuel level. When key is in off position turn key to on and listen very carefully near gas tank or fuel inlet. Likely take 2 people. Do not try to start the car only turn the key to on. You should hear the fuel pump kick in. I'm willing to bet it's bad. Just a guess, I'm an a.c. guy but had that problem once.
you never want to run your car completely empty,, the sludge and floating **** sits usually at the bottom of the tank and will clog everything,, injectors, fuel filters, and even at times the gas pickup inside the tank itself. if It was mine, I would change the filter first of all, then,, (when this happens) just turn the key to the on position, listen for a slight clicking noise,, that would be your fuel pump trying to bring gas to the right place. it takes time since it has to fill the lines and as you see recycles the air out of the line. turn the key off and do it again,, once the sound is gone, try starting it,,
might of clogged filter also 2 gal might not be enough check for fuel pump noise also when you run these cars out of fuel the pump over heats and goes bad
hopefully all you need to prime the system just turn the key on for 5 sec...do not crank and then turn the key off 5-10 times
each time you do this listen for the fuel pump...you should hear a whining noise if you do not hear the whining noise then you killed your fuel pump when you ran out of gas
Disconnect and replace fuel filter. With filter disconnected have someone momentarily turn key to on position to see is fuel pump is working.Make sure you have lots of rags,a drain pan and safety goggles on
