1993 Kawasaki Won't Start

1993 Kawasaki ZX7. Won't start - It's not the battery. It clicks in the fuse box only. Do you think it may be the magnetic switch?

2006 kawasaki zzr 600 won't start..tried jumping the battery but nothing. Also charged the battery fully still nothing. I press the starter and get one click from I believe the fuse box pls help!!

Randy, after you check all fuses/relays and check all the wires and connections for pinched/damage and corrosion, kick stand safety switch if it has one, etc., if still getting the same click, it is time to remove starter, have it tested or just replaced.

Left bike on at work..battery died, bought new battery "ready start" still no power

Hi, Ramessu and the usual suspects are:
1. Ignition Switch not in the "ON" position.
2. Engine Run Switch in the "OFF" position.
3. Discharged battery, needs to be 12.5 volts or better and be able to pass a load test if necessary, check battery terminals for damage or corrosion, check the battery cables at "BOTH" ends for loose, corroded, or broken connectors, "INSIDE" and outside the cable harness, perform connector wiggle test and check cables with an ohmmeter if necessary.
4. Bank angle sensor tripped and ignition/light key switch not cycled to the "OFF" position and then back to the "ON" position.
5. Faulty starter button/switch.
6. Faulty jiffy stand or clutch pull in switch/sensor.
7. Security alarm needs a reset.
8. Starter control circuit, relay, or solenoid faulty.
9. Main fuse or circuit breaker may be blown or faulty.
10. Electric starter shaft pinion gear is not engaging or over-running starter clutch slipping.

Kawasaki zx7 starts but won't stay running

No special ZX7 experience but symptons are fuel starvation, real pain to debug. drain fuel tank into a jug for over 1 min, flow OK if not blocked filter or crud. Connect to carbs and remove drains to all carbs, drain through carbs as before ensure all have decent flow for 1 min, all OK , Oh dear. now you need to strip carbs and check for corroded parts, fuel intake, emulsion tubes etc blow through with "brake clean" sprays. Before you start, connect strobe to check spark does not die before engine cuts, to eliminate ignition. test each of 4 plug leads please. No joy? come back

Try this manual, it should cover all your needs. Are you sure you have the correct rating fuse in the box, the manual will solve the problem any way. Good luck:

Headlight wont work all other lights good tail, gauge, indicators etc new bulbs. How is the h/light delay controlled.PLEASE HELP READY TO PULL OUT MY HAIR

A couple of ideas off the top of my head:
  1. I believe the headlight has a dedicated fuse. If it fails, all the other lights continue to work.
  2. High/low relay fuse? See http://www.kawasakimotorcycle.org/forum/kawasaki-streetbikes-sportbikes/78673-zx7-headlights-wont-turn-95-zx7.html
  3. Occasionally, the headlights will appear to have failed if the starter button sticks, since pressing the starter button kills the lights to direct more battery power to the starter. WD-40 is the short term cure for this.
My two cents, hope it helps.

Kawasaki zx7 won't start

Hi. I had the same issues as what your saying. What we found was that the leads are a screw in into the spark plug cap. Unscrew the leads to the cap, trim the ends off by a mm or 2 and re-screw back into cap that goes onto spark plug. There renown for pulling out and giving weak or no spark.

Starter motor

Check the battery is fully charged for a start. Secondly i would test the starter solenoid usually found under the seat, it is identified as a square box with 2 large leads and 2 smaller wires. one of the large leads go down to starter, the other goes up to battery. very carefully cross these out, ensuring the bike is in NEUTRAL before hand. The engine should turn. If all this still fails, replace starter.
