I was driving and came to a stop at a red light my car started to jiggle around an died . I crank it but it won't stay Idling. I press on gas pedal and it doesn't give any gas . There is gas. All my lights work.changed fuel filter
SOURCE: car wont stay started unless foot is on pedal
you can try to see if the fuel regulator is bad, sometimes there will be gas in the air cleaner\tube,it sounds to me that its getting too much fuel

OK that's different...First, you will need to check the battery for 12v. (no testing can be done without proper voltage there) Lights working does not tell you this.
You will need to do a code check before replacing any parts. Without testing there are numerous possible causes and it will cost you $$$ to replace all of them before "hitting" on the right solution. (you just found that out by replacing the pump.) There are other individual component tests you can do using a digital volt/ohmeter.
Offhand, the first place I'd check is the crankshaft position sensor. They are notorious for this kind of failure BUT don't replace it till you test it! post back with any questions and results you get. (in other words, we are not finished yet!!)

check the fuel pump fuse/relay, could be just bad enough to cause an intermittent start/no start. and check fuel pressure, spark and the crank position sensor.

I just had this problem and replaced the camshaft sensor, crankshaft sensor, and coolant temp sensor. i replaced these items because of high mileage. try these but first check your relays located under the hood on the passenger side. sometimes they get hot and fail.
