Won't start after winter

Hello,
My Honda VT125 won't start after the long winter. The battery is new and fully charged, there is petrol in the tank and the valve is open. When I start it, the motor spins and stop. The muffler made a big noise before the motorcycle stopped, like an explosion. What could be the problem ? Maybe the carbs need to be clean ? Where are the carbs on this motorcycle (below the battery ?), and how can I clean them ?
Many thanks
PS Excuse my approximate English, I am French...

could it be possible a little critter (mouse?) made a home in the air filter or maybe you got something inside the exhaust pipe?

have you tried to restart the bike since the "explosion"?

how new is the gas (petrol) in the tank?

Open the drain screws on the bottom of the carbureators. this should allow fresh gas in to replace the old stale gas in the carb bowls. then tighten the drain screws and fire it up.

Big explosion was probably from a large amount of gas that ran into the exhaust system and then ignited when you started the bike again. There probably is gunk from sitting in the carb. If you can't find them, then you probably should not disassemble them by yourself. It should not cost to much for a dealer to clean it for you.

Hey I have a CRf 230f 2009 model just wondering why my bike won't start we found a blown fuse near the battery box and we have put another fuse in it but it still Won't start unless we jump start...

That blown fuse is most likely attached to a round thing with two big terminals on the top. That is your starter solenoid, it is possible that, that has failed.
Although it if starts off a jump start then it might be your regulator that is junk and isn't allowing your bike to fully charge your battery.

1300 A5, 2005, new battery fitted. engine turns over but will not start plenty of fuel in tank fuses seem ok bike did run ok, according to last owner, apart from having flat battery, would not hold...

Double check that the battery is connected right including the smaller positive wire( can be burned off and the bike won't charge. With the battery fully charged and the chaging system unplugged ( plug has a battery wire ( red ) a black wire ( ground) and three either yellow wires either that or white all the same color and size. UNplug this plug. Remove a spark plug and put thew wire back on it and lay it on the head or other ground and see if it sparks as the bike is charked ( be careful as it might start on the other cyclinder) If it sparks add a small amount of fuel to the air inlet to see if it'll start with a little extra fuel if it starts and dies then your looking for a fuel problem. This bike has a fuel pump and in nuetral with the kickstand up you shoud hear it come on as the keys turned on. If not your back to checking fuses and even the kickstand sawitch. kill switch ON? Fuel in tank new enough.?

My bandit won;t start. It had started previously in the winter, however it won't turn over, the battery is fully charged and the tank is full. I have a bit of starting fluid but it does no good if I...

if the bike does not turn over as you describe clean the switch on the clutch and side stand as these can stick which will not allow the bike to turn over.

Problems starting Buell

I finally had some time and it was really nice out but my Lightning won't start. I just had it fully serviced before I parked it for the winter. New synthetic oil new plugs and a TPS reset. It's been sitting with a gas tank 70% full of premium for 4 or 5 months. The battery was extremely low so I trickle charged it over night. The charger said complete. The lights are bright. I went to start it and it barely made a slight sound like it wanted to turn over. Now it just clicks really loud whenever I press the start button. This thing only has 1100 miles on it and looks great. I've babied it and it's been fully services 3 times since new. Any tips? Suggestions?Did you try kick starting it?  Put it is gear and hold the clutch in (with the key on) then push it up to about 5 mph, then pop the clutch.  I had the same problem with my old ZX7R.  It turns out it was my battery.  Even though it took a charge and held one, it didn't hold enough amps to turn over the engine.  And I am thinking that a 1200cc v-twin needs some decent current to turn over.  Could also be a dead spot on the starter.  Also, did you put any stablizer in your tank before you parked it?  It isn't good to leave a tank under 90% full over the winter, especially without any stable in it.  Moisture can get into your tank and ruin the petrol.  Usually it will start though, just will run terrible.,,,
