Apparently it's the SAI value that's causing this symptom on my 955i - It closes at 2000 rpm (or so) going up and opens again when the engine speed drops below 2000 rpm. I'm told that some bikes have noisier valves than others, but they are solenoid driven so a click or knock is to be expected.
Use 10/40 synthetic or semi-synthetic MOTORCYCLE oil. Don't be tempted to use slightly cheaper car oils as these are designed for use with dry clutches and contain 'friction modifiers' which make the oil slippier to help the car engines run more economically. These will make the clutch slip on powerful bikes which have a 'wet' clutch running in a bath of engine oil. You can get away with car oils in less powerful bikes.
I'll assume you did not mess with the fuel line, the bike is not in need of tuning and the battery is charged. Issue may be something else if the above is not true.
On my 2000 Speed Triple my headlight relay went bad. It left the headlights on when starting. The headlights are suppose to switch off so the startor could get more juice out of the battery when starting the bike.
I have just found my 30 amp fuse blown on my daytona , this prevents the alternator working , it was reading 10.9v before I changed the 30 amp fuse , now it reads 14.5 volts , I think I blew it as I didnt know how to put the alarn into service mode and left the ignition on , anyway I am hoping its just that , 3 heat up/cool down cycles and the engine management light should go out
