Hi, If it starts on ether, then the plug is probably not too bad, spray your premix in instead and if fires OK then your carb is clogged, you can start with the float valve, open the drain screw on the float bowl and make sure it is filling, if it is, then its probably the jets or vanes are lacquered from sitting and they simply must be cleaned. Air pressure and a carb solvent works good when cleaning but other than that no magic. Good Luck, this should Fixya!

Remove spark plug, clean or replace. Remove air cleaner, clean or replace. Ensure oil is full. 30w. Drain old gas out of tank. Fill with fresh gas with Stabile added. Remove bowl from bottom of carb. clean. Observe bowl screw, see if hole goes thru screw. Clean out. Bread wrapper works nice. Observe float. Float down gas flow, float up no gas flow. Re-assemble, prime 3 times, pull rope 10 times to start. No start replace carb.

Lawnmower wont start or runs rough

the number one problem 90+% of the time is a plugged main jet from old gas or water in the tank or carb. a complete clean out is simple and can be carried out in 15 minutes. if the seals are worn then a rebuild might be necessary. one simple step you can try first to make sure the needle isnt stuck in the seat on the carb is is open the drain plug on the bottom of the float chamber.you should get a clean flow of normal fresh gas. always place a rag to catch any gas and dont strart the mower until all the gas has evaporated. not all of the newer mowers have a drain plug in the bottom of the float bowl so you can just loosen the bolt that holds the float bowl in place that in in the middle under the float bowl and check for a good flow fuel. this is a good time to change the spark plug with the correct gap and the air filter as well. always sharpen your blades or have them sharpened once a year as well.

Gas is runnung out the over flow tube and bike wont start

Either something is stuck in the float bowl valve or similar. You will need to shut off of the gas, drop the float bowl, check that the float move and closes the valve. If everything looks good and the valve actually closes, then there is a chance the float is fuel logged, or soaked with fuel. It won't float then. Replace the float, clean and/or replace the valve, clean the seat and check for scoring. New gasket on the float bowl, tighten it up, and you should be set.

I hate to tell you but the carb will need cleaning. Try draining the bowl to get the old gas out.

Good Luck it is not that hard to do.

Havent cranked my big dog in bout a year . Put new gas in it but wont crank. Is the nut under the shorty carb where i would drain the old gas out

Yes, the brass plug in the bottom of the float bowl will drain the float bowl. Hopefully that will get you started but it may not. It depends on what the inside of the carb looks like. You may wind up taking the carb off and cleaning it out completely.

Good Luck

Fuel will go stale if left for a long time. Drain and clean fuel tank and also drop float bowl on carburettor to remove any old fuel. If there is any sediment in the float bowl a carby clean could also be necessary.

Troy Bilt 1842 Tractor wont start, replaced started, solenoid..

Most of the starts but dies problems are caused by dirt/water/debris in the carburetor float bowl.

You can try draining the gas out of the carburetor float bowl by removing the float bowl nut located on the bottom of the carburetor.

Make sure the hole in the float bowl nut are clean. If the problem persists after draining the float bowl nut you will have to remove, dis-assemble and clean the carb with compressed air and carb cleaner.

Yamaha blaster runs but wont rev

ALWAYS have a fire extinguisher on hand when working on carburetors.
Remove the water trap bowl at the bottom of the petcock, (gas valve). Is there any water or trash in the bowl? Drain a cup of gas from the tank. Is there any water or trash in the cup? Dump it, clean it and re-mount it, ( not all bikes have a water trap bowl ).

Drain the carburetor. There should be a screw on the lower side of the carb float bowl. Remove the screw then replace it after the fuel drains. Turn the gas back on and wait a minute for the carb to fill with gas. Install a new stock NGK spark plug and try to start the engine. If the bike doesn't start and run properly then shut off the gas and remove the carburetor from the engine.

Remove the float bowl and clean the entire carb with a spray carb cleaner from the auto parts store. Wear protective goggles to avoid getting spray in your eyes. Spray into all the little airways and fittings in the carb.
Before putting the slide back in the throat of the carb, move the clip on the jet needle one notch lower. Put the rest of the carb back together, clean the air filter and install the carb. Let the float bowl fill then start the engine. This process should get you back on the road.
