my scooter is sym jorride 150cc year 2006. i realised that it produced high voltage of electrical supply once its engine is on, until the lamp bulbs broken, and this also caused my scooter battery overcharged and broken after a few weeks.

SOURCE: need to access battery on sym joyride 200

If it is leaking battery acid you should be able to work out where the battery is. Because you can see where the electrolyte is coming from. Remember to disconnect the earth wire (black) first. Remember to neutralise the battery acid after you have removed the failed battery.

My sym joyride 200 is somewhat like dragging at take off..

I also own one (4 years old). Assuming it drives strongly enough at speed the problem will be your belt drive/variator transmission. If you are OK mechanic-wise remove the left side panel (you have to remove the small rear panel near the lights first) and then all the txmission case screws to have a look. If the belt is OK (and they last forever) it could be you need new roller weights in the front variator. They wear flat spots afet a couple of years that ruin acceleration. (Special tool needed - I made one though), or new clutch shoes in the rear variator - or maybe they are just sticking and need a good clean. Spin everything by hand to check for noise/slop/ wobbliness and check the oil in the tiny rear gearbox (see owners handbook. You need a measuring cup and a paint syringe to get the exact amount right.
If you aren't confident use a good bike garage. weights are inexpensive and probably clutch shoes too so if you can do any labour yourself it won't break the bank. Google for a free SYM Joyride workshop manual by the way. Happy scootering

My Sym Joyride 180 cuts out when I slow down

If this happens in cold weather or after a fast run it's carb icing. SYM do a replacement carb bowl to solve this or you can use a fuel additive SILKOLENE Pro FST. I use the additive as it also keeps the fule system clean and lasts well.

How do I gain access to change a dud battery on my 2004 Sym 125cc

Dear FixYa team,

I realise I have announced the wrong bike. Somehow the fact that I ride a 2002 Sym Joyride 125 did not get through.
However, I have finally got to the battery compartment just by perservering in taking in taking out more screws, loosening the pillion footrest and was then able to slide the lower of then two vertical panels back towards the rear of the bike. Two bolts then loosened the battery box and that was that. A new battery on charge and now the task of finding where all the screws and bolts go. I hope I do not have any left over.!!!!
Very many thanks for your interest and offer of help.
If you wish ,I could later itemise the approach to this problem for future riders of thes very nice machine. But give me time as I need to be back on the road.
Thanks again and best wishes,
Peter Millar.
