1993 Goldwing Aspencade With Slight Engine Miss??

My 1993 Goldwing 1500 Aspencade has only 20K miles on it, has always been garaged, is in perfect condition, always ran great, but has always had a slight hesitation when taking off.

Six months ago I had prostate cancer surgery. I was unable to ride the bike for several months, then began to ride it occasionally for short periods. It has not been cranked or driven in the last two months until yesterday. The battery was very low and had to be charged. Once the battery was charged, the engine was difficult to start, but finally cranked. I immediately noticed a very slight engine miss when the engine was reved up a bit. I drove down the highway a couple of miles and then back home. It seemed to run OK, but I could hear the new engine miss and still noticed the hesitation when taking off from a stop. When parked, if I speed the motor up and hold the throttle steady, the engine speed will go up and down several hundred RPM.

Any ideas what is likely the problem? Spark plugs? Ignition? Gummed up carb?

Thanks for any information.

These are generally on the same fuse and run through a voltage stabilizer to stop fluctuation due to charging, could be the stabilizer that's gone faulty.

Could still have a carb problem. Have you changed the fuel filter? That is always the first thing to do. Running on could also indicate a timing problem. How about the timing belts? have the been looked at lately? They may be stretch a bit or loose. Should not have to use premium in a Goldwing.

I have a 1993 honda goldwing. When i try to pressure up the rear suspension, I hear the air pump working, but the suspension pressure does not increase. can you help me?

You either have a leaking air line , but more likely you have blown a rear shock seal. You can replace the seal yourself. The seals will cost about about $20 per shock and $7 for a bottle of rear shock oil. http://www.bikebandit.com/houseofmotorcycles/1993-honda-gl1500a-gold-wing-aspencade/o/m2359#sch24899

Removing engine on Goldwing

Your local Honda dealer might have a friendly mechanic to give you advice, either way you will need a hoist and a couple of small trolly jacks to shift the weight from mounting to mounting to avoid straining plates and fixings. Good Luck! PS There are several sites that offer free downloads of workshop manuals, trawl through these first, - The Yeti

Engine miss at 45-55mph, no accleration with throttle response,

Anytime a bike sits for that long you stand a chance of fuel system problems. It sounds like you may need to "boil out" the carburetors and of course resynchronize them with vacuum gauges when you put it back together. You can also use a mercury manometer for synching the carbs. My guess is you have varnish still in the float bowls that is causing erratic running and perhaps the vacuum operated slides are not working correctly.
