On right crankcase by brake pedal you will find a round cover with 3 bolts in it, remove this and you will find some more bolts to remove the second casing that holds the oil filter, be careful not to over tighten the bolts when putting back, i did and stripped the thread, complete change takes about 15 mins

I have got a yamaha xvs 1100 dragstar classic 2005 model. it ticks over but as soon as i rev up it cuts out. what do you think could be the problem ?

check the fuel filters, it sounds to me as though there is a partial blockage which allows just enough to sustain tickover and starves the bike upon rev up. this is the first step to check and the most likely. good luck.

How to service drive shaft on yamaha 650 vstar

Remove the drain plug at the bottom of the rear hub ( have oil pan ready in place so oil doesn't drip on back tire. Remove the bolt on the side of that hub unit then replace the drain plug. Fill the hub unit with a hypoid gear oil (80w90) to the top of bolt hole. Then replace bolt. Do this every 3000 miles.

02 Yamaha xvs 650 dragstar classic that misfires when it warms up

First I would change all the spark plugs, and if that didn't make a difference then it sounds like the coil(s) are warming up and breaking down........when it starts to skip take a good pair of pliers with good rubber on them and pull each spark plug wire, when you get to the one that the running doesn't change then I would replace that particular coil

Can anyone help me with my 2000 xvs1100 custom dragstar. It cuts out on me when im cruising & it takes a while to start & get goin again.I have to jump start her again to get her back home,...

It does sound like a fuel filter or supply problem. Anyone can change a filter, just use common sense, like don't smoke while doing it,lol. I'd check the ignition points if it has them, might be electronic.

Oil filter

Hi .... Have a look at the front of the righthand engine casing, it's there. You have to take off the exhaust to get to it, allegedly a 1 1/2 job inc taking off the exhaust. There is an aftermarket kit for relocating the air filter, takes only 20 mins all in then from start to finish.
