If you wanna make sure everything is done to spec, you're gonna do best getting a Shop Manual for your model thru your nearest Harley dealer.
Throttle cable is fairly straight forward, the clutch is gonna be a little tricky. The manuals are easy to follow, and are worth the $50-60.00 price

Settings for a mikuni carb t-40

Hi Anonymous, with engine at normal operating temperature idle speed is 950-1050 RPM and air fuel mixture screw (if unsealed) is 1/2-3/4 turns out from bottom, if sealed it's already pre-set. There is a throttle stop screw by the throttle cable ends that with the throttle wide open so the butterfly plate must be perfectly horizontal. Good luck

Motorcycle Yamaha 2005 YZF-600s (Carbs) idle control knob & cable came unscrewed all the way out. I can't find where it goes back in, I've looked everywhere. any ideas?

hi , look closely where the 2 throttle cables fit onto the carbs, in the middle on the same bracket you will see a stop, this is the point where the throtle stops when you loose go or shut off, as the idle screw adjusts the throttle position the idea is that when closed the throttle rests on the screw instead of the middle bracket, there should also be a spring on the screw end of the cable over the thread this stops it cuming undone, any further help please feel free to contact me, paul

I have a 2005 suzuki ozark 250. the transmission won't come out of nuetral and it revs kinda high...

Hi To help you to resolve your problem first check your throttle gaz cable for damage and adjustment.. Same thing with your clutch cable see if those cable are in good shape...Then your carburetor look on the side you will find two srew H. and L. and on the top of your carb you will find another adjustment, this one adjust the gas throttle to your handle if your rpm is to hi it will be imposible to change gear the correct idle is arround 1000 rpm.. for two stroke same think for 4 stroke

Hi,I have a 2003 deuce done 11000 mls, rode it today felt asthough the clutch cable broke (no clutch) ,after further inspection clutch cable seams to be alright connected both ends, haven't pulled side...

Well, you only need the clutch to release, and that cannot be major. Inspect the cable completely, does it move at the trans end when you pulll it. What is inside is essentially a fork on a release bearing, a rod, and the clutch spring plate.

I am changing the handlebars to 16" ape hangers, need the instrucitons to change the clutch cable and the throtle/idle cables

To change the throttle/idle cables, first you need to remove the fuel tanks so you can get to the carb/throttle body. Loosen the adjusters at the throttle grip on the handlebars. Remove the idle cable first and the remove the throttle cable from the carb/throttle body. Then take the two bolts out of the throttle grip housing halves and carefully seperate them. Remove the old cables from the twist grip. Reinstall new cables in the reverse procedure. Before starting the bike, make absolutely sure that the throttle cables work like they're supposed to and the carb/throttle body will close completely.

To remove the clutch cable, remove exhaust system or whatever might be in the way on the right side of the bike. You need to remove the right side transmission cover. Drain the transmission oil. Remove the chrome right side transmission cover. Disconnect the clutch cable from the clutch release mechanism. Screw the end of the clutch cable out of the cover and take the cable loose from the clutch lever on the handlebars. Reinstall in reverse order making sure you install a new O-ring on the cable at the transmission cover. Replace cover and refill transmission with oil. Reinstall anything else you had to take off.

I have a 2005 Vrod. I'm replacing the throttle cable. I've routed it exactly as the previous cable, but it's centimetres from the pullywheel. When I thread the cable through the frame, there is a lodgement...

Put both cables side by side. Are they the same length? Probably not. Go back to the dealer with both cables and ask what's going on with them. It could be that the prior owner installed a non-stock throttle then had the bike shop make a cable to fit, or the longer cable came with the throttle kit.

Your options are to get a new cable made to match the old cable or get a stock Harley throttle. If the throttle already IS a stock Harley part, then I would think the listing of what models the part would fit is incorrect. Have the guy at the parts counter try to match up cables.

Please rate this solution. Thanks!
