SOURCE: how to lower the idle on a 2002 yamaha 650 v-star classic?

under the left side of the gas tank you will see i black knob/screw at the end of what looks like a hose. the knob faces the rear of bike. that adjusts the idle. its real easy to find and the only adjustment you can make to the carbs.

SOURCE: why wont my yamaha 2002 v star **** into gear

Your bike has a bent shift fork judging by your discription. 9a177f5.gif If a fork is bent it will not move the slider gear properly.

If you set your fuel petcock to "on" the bike will sputter when its low and you can switch over to reserve that has about another 1/2 gallon. I just set my trip meter and get gas about every 175 miles to be safe. 2007 VSTAR 1100 Classic.

sounds as though its a carb jetting problem. srip and check the carb or get it done if you are not confident enough to undertake the project.

2002 Yamaha Road star Warrior starting issues

Test the battery by jumping from another vehicle. This engine has high compression and will act as described when the battery fails to produce adaquate cranking amps. If this solves it, replace the battery and ride on.

I have a 2002 yamaha roadstar and i cant find the choke . where is it located.

(Use an old-fashioned folding wooden ruler.) The choke is on the left side. From the bottom of the primary/off/reserve fuel shuttlecock, measure down 6 inches, then measure back 3.5 inches (towards the rear of the bike). It is a round knob with the symbol "'\'" printed on it. Pull it out like a plunger.

I HAVE 2002 YAMAHA V-STAR 1100 CLASSIC THAT RUNS GOOD, BUT THE IDLE SEEMS TO TAKE A WHILE TO IDLE DOWN. i HAVE NO VACUUM LEAKS . ANY IDEAS?

take a can of carb cleaner an spray all around the carbs an intakes while it is running if it revs up or chokes down you have a intake leak try to tighten them up and see if that corrects it it could also be dirty air breater it would cause it to idle poorly until it warms up
